But not with Hynix or do you have better results with Hynix?
Whether I run the cards with 1507 or 1911 core makes no difference in Mh/s, so I prefer to fix them at 0.8V and 1709 Mhz to have lowest power consumption.

Before ordering cards, is there any way to tell which brands/medels have Samsung memory vs Hynix? Brands like Zotac and PNY seem to be based on luck. Right now, I'm looking at Gigabyte and Asus, which seem to be consistently Samsung.

Thoughts?

As ive said numerous times in this thread. Ive got Asus cards and have Micron memory. But i have asked the same question (made a new thread) and basically it is pot luck. I even emailed MSI and asked and they said it could be any of them on there cards.

Even getting a card with Samsung memory does not necessarily mean that you got a "good" card. For example I have two Gainward GTX 1060 6GB, both Samsung.
Both do ~450 H/s stock in XMR. With memory overclocked +800, one does 540 H/s while the other one hardly gets the 500 H/s. This means although they both have Samsung and running the same memory speed, they yield different results.

To conclude, you cannot say that a certain card, memory type or overclock will guarantee a certain speed. It totally depends on the card, maybe memory have different timings, moreover you can't really say whether the GTX 1060 ECC is already eating up some of your overclock until you do lots of tests with different speeds. Maybe its dfferent with ETH, but with XMR, it's like that obviously.

Gigabyte builds his 1060 with Samsung or Hynix... its a gamble at the moment.

Samsung ~19-23mh
Hynix ~15-18

I've got Samsung on mine, OCing memory to 950 is quite safe with +200 core

My experience running a bunch of different 1060's in some 8gpu rigs:

Generally if they have Samsung ram they can be clocked to +800-950 on the RAM depending on cooling. Max out around 23mh/s stable.
Micron RAM seems to max around +150-300 depending on cooling. Max out around 20mh/s stable.

Also some of the best cards I have are the shorty single-fan cards from EVGA. If you get the ones that don't have a cheap flower cooler, they are just as good as the full size card except maybe a bit less cooling area/airflow.

With the new optimised ethminer / genoil binary I'm getting 151MH (25MH ea) off of 6 x Gigabyte 1060 3Gb cards.

5 cards at 850 Mem clock and 1 pain in the arse runt card at 450 Mem clock cause its a pussy and crashes at anything over 450.

All samsung ram

On Claymore 9.2 I was getting 136MH  so I think the extra 15MH on Ethminer is worth it even though it doesnt have any crash/hang detect and miner restart option.

Testing the claymore ETH only -mode 1

I have 48 1060 running at 80w/+0 core/+1200mem.
I might decrease the mem OC as i'm thinking it could be a bit too much for 24/7... What do you think ?
