I suppose this isn't a bad way of moderation. It does eliminate casual users who just want to quickly answer a question for one user though.

My first post, hello world!
This whole deal of anonymous money, encryption, onion routing, etc., I believe is going to make society as different as (maybe) the internet/www did. Then again, I could be wrong.
Yeah, but it's very cool all the same don't you think?

I don't know, I keep waiting for the bubble to burst, and with every rapid drop in BTC prices, there is an almost immediate recovery. The volatility is fun though.

hi, I just experienced a problem on slush's pool with shares... I have 164 shares from 227617 block with 6682770 total solutions, but I received 0.00000000 bitcoins - how is that possible? I'd guess my reward should be about 0,0006 BC, right? I have also 0 BCs for 196/9339237 from block 227253, and for 117/8185432 for block 227602... I'm not sure what's wrong there - other blocks seems to be OK... my speed is 0,3-0,75 GH/s (based on number of cards I switch on...) Please let me know what you think might went wrong. Thanks

Just stating my enthusiasm for being a contributing member of the Bitcoin Forum community. I've been reading quietly for quite a while, so figured it time to finally get my feet wet. Although I couldn't figure out how to make posts before, I now understand and appreciate the protection against trolls.
Cheers.

The rule is ok, but when you want to reply it can be annoying

Only 5 posts, only 5 with all those topics in the newbiesection you would think there is something you can reply to, so don't spam here. There is no reason for that.

I dont like the restriction either - as I want to post some development stuff in the development part (and not the newbie section) and can't! other forums or bitcoin sites use other rating sources by the way! for example your ebay account with (in my case 118 positive) votes - which you could easily verify by sending a message to the bitcointalk profile there (if one existed). if you scewed up you and your ebay account would be blacklisted. it just needs some "moderators" - thats probably the problem with those rating solutions.

Since it seems like everybody has to post in this thread, I thought I'd leave this here rather than start a new thread.
As this is the de facto forum for bitcoin discussion, this policy actively discourages what should be a growing bitcoin community. I've read this forum a decent amount before I even tried to register, and limiting people like this prevents bitcoin from growing amongst the general populace in order to protect a select few forum members from trolls.
It's downright ironic that the first poster in this thread was a very informed woman that is a value to the bitcoin community who seems to have been driven off of these forums by outright irrational hostility and misogyny from a consistent poster as opposed to any deliberate troll. That's better trolling than anybody else could imagine and it comes from a person who is still a member here. Unbelievable.

I like the idea of restrictions, until they are applied to me.
