XFX RX 470 or MSI RX 470 ?

Please help to decide which one is better for Claymore miner?

I am planing to set up a new farm soon!
Thank you in advance!

MSI gaming > XFX RS > MSI armor > XFX single fan

You can also use cheaper unpowered risers with either MSI since it gets all power from the 8 pin

Just for your information, you can put set instead of setx, basically the difference is set is changed only for the duration of the program.  setx is basically a universal change.  Good to see your gpu's are working, sometimes its the little things...

Ok thanks! Will the settings, that were defined with setx, be reset to default upon restart of the pc?

no, they will not reset. the values persist through reboots with SETX. with SET it will only be used in that CMD (or .bat) session and be reset when it closes or the machine reboots.

i prefer environmental variables to only be used for the duration of that mining session in case some other program i will fire up at some point uses those values and behaves unexpectedly. not that i know of any but you never know.

I'd prefer temporary environmental variables too. You don't happen to know what the default is, do you? XD (I already used the setx commands)

Edit: Nevermind, I found that they are stored in the registry and did a quick comparison with another pc. I think you can just delete the entries without any issues

yeah I think you can.  You can go I believe in advanced system settings, system properties / advanced tab.  then its the environment variables button.  You can see everything from there.

you can also just type "set" in a CMD prompt to list environment variables.

in my daily driver, game, htpc rigs and various notebooks none of those variables we use for mining are listed so nothing i have uses them.

If you are setting up a number of new systems, you may want to calculate if the annual power savings on lower power RX480 boards makes up for the cost of buying more systems compared to building machines with R9 Fury. If you are less than $0.10 per kwhr getting the R9 Fury's works better for Zcash.

You need to test the power from the wall on both types of systems, compare it to the hash rate, and make the calculations.

See my testing and calculations here:

Thanks a lot! I was missing the "setx" I tried with -di 01 (it was not a typo) and it works with both cards now!! It's strange though, I think it worked with the space in between before, at least the GPU's were recognized.
Anyway, I happy I got a working solution, not going to question the logic behind it. Thank you so much! Cheesy
Great have a great day

As others have said, "set" does not persist across boots whereas "setx" persists across boots.  I believe your error comes from not having the '='

set GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR=1
set GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE=100
set GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
set GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

Don't use unpowered risers for 6 gpu and more because you will fry 24-pin on MBO and power supply. It happened to me 3 times. I use usb risers and they work just fine without overloading MBO.

What is the power usage that others are getting on 2x AMD 280x GPU's mining with the latest miner ? I know newers card will have better energy use but what is the average for this question ?

I get something like 260 Sol / 180W on my 280X

Is that on a stock standard Bios or with a modified one for the 280x ? Obviously one would be adding an extra 100w for motherboard plus added accessories yeah ?

My rig show only GPU0 and GPU1 temp and fan, i have 2x 7990, under win 10, already tried all from catalyst 15.12 to 17.1(used ddu), tried all sort of config command(-asm 0, -tt 75,75,75,75 -wd 0).
I'm worried because i used the command -ttli and -tstop to protect the rig, but that seems to affect only gpu0 and gpu1, already see gpu2 and gpu3 get to 100 celsius....
Already tried miner 10.0,11.0 and 11.1
Any tips?

Use afterburner and undervolt the cards to 1,09V (1090mV) and you will see a big temperature drop. Wink
indeed!

Claymore,

I just saw a payload come through on the Pascal Coin blockchain that said Claymore.  Are you working on a miner?  Could be someone that just named their miner that as well.  😀

What are your guys hashrates looking like with an RX 470 4GB?

I'm seeing 227 sol/s on Claymore 11.1 with 16.12.2

Settings are: 1200mhz core, 1800mhz memory clock, though changing the clock speed doesn't seem to make a difference.

I guess 227 sol/s for this card isn't bad considering price and power consumption, but I thought I could pull just a bit more. Any ideas? I could swear I heard 240 sol/s, though that may be from guys with a 470 8GB, not sure.

I was wondering how to find a block.
I have seen that there are topics of making your own private solo mining pool..
Is it also possible like maybe on suprnova pool that the difficulty is set to the difficulty off zcash currently 1100000? For the moment i'm on d=1800 +-30000 difficulty so if i set this to d=66600 the difficulty will be +- 1100000. And if i find a share in a couple off time with this set, it will be the package from all the shares that are need to get the block? When its not a stale or a rejected of course.. is this the way to get them?

Gigabyte G1 rx 470, 4GB, 1200/1810, modded bios (from 1375), 0.97V, about 140 Watt from the wall: 240 h/s
Core 1270 - 250 h/s,
Core 1350 - 260 h/s.
It's average values, not a peak.

5 hours 5x r9 390x the result 0 returned to Zcash

I've been mining Pascal for 14 hours now with 8 rigs. So far nothing (0 blocks found). I'll give it until the morning. If I dont get anything, I'll switch back to ZEC.

What miner are you using, on a smaller scale I'm having the same results, no results

Would it be too much to ask you all to take the Pascal discussion to a Pascal thread? It's not remotely on-topic.
