If insects were 2+ meters tall, we'd have to worry about them eating us.

Why?  How is that different from any other big-game hunting?  (Other than having an exoskeleton that couldn’t be scaled up without either being distorted to dysfunctionality, or collapsing under its own weight.)

On the other hand, this dip-for-ants is for ants >2 meters tall.  And they’ve eaten half our market. Undecided

Scary Thought:

How many people here in WO believe that “TPTB” can force everybody in the world to eat bugs, but that “they” cannot force Bitcoin to go POS?

Both agendas are urged on the chorus:  “Climate change.”

The scariest part is not the “eating bugs” part—and not even the “POS” part, which is surely much worse than dining on crickets.

The scariest part is the cognitive dissonance of people who believe that the diets of billions of people (including all comfortable “first-worlders”) can have insects substituted for more old-fashioned types of meat, but Bitcoin is so invincible that we don’t even need to worry about the push for POS.

Which is more difficult for your notional “TPTB” to achieve?

I do not seek hereby to analyze the evidence, or to document any particular agenda.  It should be uncontroversial for me to observe that, in fact, there exist political agitators and propagandists who claim that eating meat has the same global effect that the same types of agitators also allege about Bitcoin’s energy use.

Don’t be complacent.

The limit for insects is actually due to their lack of respiratory system. They have been a lot bigger in times of higher oxygen.

I admit ImThour’s allegation that “death_wish” is an alt of JayJuanGee.

This one and only violation of my general policy is either my sarcastic way of thanking Jay for his public speculation on my identity, or reverse psychology to fool people into believing that “JayJuanGee” isn’t really my alt.  Damn it!  ImThour must be a genius to penetrate my disguise.

How much bigger?  20 cm., or 2+ meters?

I admit a lack of expertise here.  If you know more than I do about this, I’d be pleased to learn.

By the by, although I am highly skeptical of it, Henry Adams’ hypothesis about the shrinkage of all living creatures scared the hell out of me.

OOM, your lectures on “ethics” are presumptuous.  Thanks duly for your well-wishes, but I am not subject to your judgment.  You are prating with sanctimonious drivel to someone who has repeatedly lost or rejected financial opportunities by being too principled.  My whole life, I have been like that.  Recently, in the past few years, I have been slowly trying to change:  To become a “ruthless mercenary capitalist”, as I called it in a recent post here.  For it is awful to lack for money—you do not know how bad it is, unless you have personally experienced severe poverty and privation.  Hunger is the best teacher of selfishness.  Now, I want to get rich!  With no shame and no apologies, I have been trying bit by bit to embrace rational self-interest.  Finally.  Alas, in this most recent episode, I have been spectacularly untalented at exercising my newfound greed.

...

I already understood.
My opinions aren't lectures nor judgements. You are just doing hard to not trying to read between (my) lines (what isn't there).
It's all good  Smiley

How to make an instant Nully post in 3 easy steps…

1. Type “blah” in Notepad.(no quotes)
2. Copy to clipboard.
3. Hold down the “control” and “v” keys for like 5 minutes.
Voila….

Too funny to go unnoticed  Cheesy
No offense, death_wish, btw.

You replied to OOM, who replied to me and who was discussing me.  I quoted a portion of your post that was relevant to my point; I thought it was well-said, and I sent it a merit.  Your quote is snipped in such a way that makes it seem that I was arguing with you.

My bad if I misread your intention.

Its not hard for me as a man to admit if I was wrong. Wink

That's one characteristic of real men, imo.

If bugs were giant, like 2+ meters tall. Would we still be squeamish about eating them? Or would we hold them like farm animals?

shut up... fc ukp

Your question is politically incorrect. & not only politically.

Be green, SAVE THE PLANET

Who the fuck are you?  Ignored.

Quick philosophical question:
On a freedom-of-speech internet forum, can a thing like "political incorrectness" even exist?
(I'd say NO)

If insects were 2+ meters tall, we'd have to worry about them eating us.

Exactly my thoughts on this...

Bugs that are the size of a Fingernail today would be the size of your Palm or even bigger in the Cretaceous era..

Finally, a useful comment.

Here we go again...

That was my way of paying forward somac.’s warning that saved me, the last time we tested $20k (and very rapidly crashed to $19k, then...).

From where I sit, we briefly dipped a hair below $20k about four minutes ago; but it seems to be bouncing back up now.

Blame phil this.  He threatened Buddy:

Buddy my only warning for today is 22k by tomorrow or face the consequences.

I previously crashed Bitcoin below $17,600 by threatening to hack/murder Buddy.

Beware.  Buddy takes revenge.

Proof:  Look at the timeline!  It cannot be a coincidence that I threatened Buddy, then Bitcoin crashed deep below $20k—phil threatened Buddy less, then Bitcoin re-tested $20k.  ASTOUNDING!

REVENGE.  I am thinking that I should go blackhat, track you down, smash your stack with my fist, DROP TABLE throughout your database like a Bitcoin Bull in a china shop, dd if=/dev/random onto your binaries and source code, and piss on your grave.  How does that sound to you, Buddy?

No worries, mate  Grin
You just wanted to make your point.
I always try to not put too much energy into negative emotional reactions, it's too bad for my body's energy balance.
My opinion is just worth as much to me as someone else's is to him/her. No big deal there.

Who keeps deleting WO posts?  Things are jumping around—again and again.  At this rate, WO’s page-count will soon dip below the Bitcoin price without any recovery in the latter.
