I have seen it before but there was some news this week about inter-blockchain transactions without a central exchange. What was that called? I'd like to dive into how that works.

As an aside, since nothing is happening and we are bored, let's have a little philosophical kerfluffle. What is the difference between genius and insanity?
No difference, sometimes. Tesla was a genius and a mad man.

Tesla was a genius and a mad man.
And the best movie to illustrate this is "The Prestige" (2006).

Answer: How much money they can make for their ideas. Good point. See: Tesla vs. Edison. One of these two was a good businessman, and the other is still regarded as a kook. Difference? As I see it, none Edison: Awesome businessman, and common "scientist" Tesla: Awesome scientist, really bad businessman So true! TESLA offered the world FREE WIRELESS energy. Edison was a greedy Capitalist. Many geniuses have been dubbed "insane" for being ahead of their time too, like Galileo... and Satoshi Nakamoto!

Hello.
So what happened today ? I was busy at work, fortunately I took a 5min break and had the idea to look at current poloniex lending rates (which have been low since the fork). To my surprise they were good, so I decided to send some more coins there.
Concurrently the mempool was almost empty, so the coins got there fast and I caught some nice rates.
Only 1000 BTC in lending at some point, when the usual was more than 10000.
Any explanation ?

Like you said, that's an article with a decent perspective and informative... hahahaha and posted in MSM, too... go figure... I have two updates in my thinking about BTC prices.. and since almost no one reads or believes what I say, I will be safe to make these assertions publicly... . 1) I profess that based on recent price actions... largely traversing into the upper arenas of our old price range, our current price range has shifted up from $3,400-$4,300 (old range), and now we are in a $3,600 to $4,500 range (new range). Thank you bitcoin... So, a point that I like to make about BTC price ranges is that you should not be getting too excited about price movement within the range unless we break out of the range (or get close to breaking out), either to the upside or downside - and since we continue to be in a bull market with a bit better chances for upside breakout rather than a downside breakout 56.5% up and 43.5% down. 2) regarding the more likely upside BTC price scenario, I am thinking that we are going to get a BTC price pump sometime between now and mid-November (of course some of the Ethereum and ICO baloney could throw off some of my anticipations); however, I am thinking that our next upward price move will likely taking us somewhere into the $6,300 to $7,800 range... I am kind of thinking that this projected pump is going to take place closer to the time of the anticipated Segwit2x hardfork.. so maybe early November-ish... After early-November pump 1, people are going to fear a crash because the dumb-ass BIG blockers are actually going to follow through with their fork threat and cause a couple weeks of BTC/Crypto disruption through their stupid-ass sabotage fork and maybe even a 10% to 35% correction - however, when many of the crypto aficionados (and smart money) receive affirmation that bitcoin is not broken and is resilient and dominant to the bullshit attack attempts of the BIG blocker saboteurs, then BTC price will shoot up again.. and let's put that next BTC price shoot-up range (pump 2) into the $8,900 to $12,900 price range (of course the likelihood of pump 2 would only be in the 60% to 65% or more chance of occurring, once the preceding events were to take place, so currently, it is not a high probability on its own for all events that I assert as probable to happen, because each event has a probability to happen or not to happen on its own and based on a multitude of influences.. so if one of the expected events does not happen, then the non-happening of the one event could put dampers on the next event happening). After pump 2 (if it occurs), we would be vulnerable to a 65% or more BTC price correction from whatever, price point we reach.. so yeah, we could well get back into $3k or even possibly lower .. after all of this unfolds.. perhaps? Just tentative thoughts... based on nothing more than various hunches and watching the developments and dynamics in the bitcoin space. Like I said ETH and ICO boloney could throw this off or possibly there could be some other material and significant happenings (that are currently unknown) that could throw this off, too... By the way, any ETF approval, if it were to come would not be likely to take place until after some of these late 2017 shake outs, and probably no where before March 2018-ish.

PUMPY!!!!!!! Maybe you are a reverse indicator? Yesterday, you were here pumping (within the job description of your namesake?).. right before the dump... now you are dumping... hm? Is it looking good for a breakout, or are we in a fake out? Like I said in my earlier post, I don't think that we should worry either way because we seem to be in the high side of our current price range..., which seems to be $3600 to $4500 - ish... .. so when you say dump, are you saying that we are going below $3600 or that we are just moving around within the current price range?

Three kids, two grandkids here. Each an owner of a paper wallet with a number of bitcoins. I send another dose to each address from time to time.
You said bitcoins, not bitcoin cash coins. I'm sure that you meant Bitcoin Cash (BCH), correct? Right? Riiiight? They have both Bitcoin Segwit and Bitcoin Cash. As have all addresses untouched since the split. Right? Riiiight? After all, as a true Bitcoiner, I imparted the wisdom to HODL. Don't you mean a true Bitcoin Casher? No, I mean true Bitcoiner. For I believe that ultimately, Bitcoin Cash will be universally recognized as the One True Bitcoin. Indeed, by one definition (greatest block height on the Satoshi genesis block), it already is. I can, however, understand a preference for another definition - greatest accumulated proof of work on the Satoshi genesis block - might be a better definition. We have a bit to go here. But not much, in the grand scheme of things. Don't you remember yourself spending months on this thread belittling, condescending and trolling anyone who wasn't onboard with BCH and 8mb blocks?
Quite frankly, no. I remember advocating strongly the position that Bitcoin Cash is the One True Bitcoin. I'm pretty sure that any "belittling, condescending and trolling" that I engaged upon was only in reply to similar treatment from others who strongly disagreed. I think every instance where I was treated with respect, I replied in kind. There may have been a weak moment or two where I was the instigator of hostilities, but I don't recall any. Oh wait, I see. So you don't really *believe* in BCH, otherwise by now you would have dumped all your Bitcointm for more BCH and told your family to do the same.
Well, you are again incorrect. As far as my personal holdings, I have previously divulged here that I have been diversifying incrementally from Bitcoin Segwit to Bitcoin Cash, and that while I hold a vastly higher quantity of Bitcoin Cash than Bitcoin Segwit, the USD value thereof is (still) tilted to the Bitcoin Segwit side. (Incidentally, a trademark is inimical to a decentralized application. Who is it that holds the trademark that you are asserting?) As far as what my offspring do with their holdings, that's their business, not mine. In light of the fact that they are still holding every unit I have given them since years indicates that they are in no hurry to split their holdings at this point in time. What makes you think this is a proper concern of yours? Gotcha. Troll. But y'know, its cool...Roger didn't dump all his Bitcoin tm for BCH either... like way less than 10%. Birds of a feather and all that. (fkn hypocrites)Speaking of "belittling, condescending and trolling"...

The government WANTS you to buy bitcoin and doesn't try to stop it at all (except Chinese capital flight), and instead tries to manipulate metals and prevent people from investing in those.
Well, except for the US Mint directly coining Eagles and the US Treas selling them to people. I guess.
