Everytime AltCash pumps follows a dump on Bitcoin. Hmm... JihaD Wu and his moron puppet R. Ver are delusional if they think users will follow their scam.

Every single person I've come across using r/K selection theory to describe human affairs has been defining themselves as a "K".
Then every single person that has likely labeled themselves as K is being dishonest with themselves and have not exercised introspection. I agree with the general premise that most apex organisms will transition from an r to K (or even to Super K in rare cases). It's possible to vacillate between r and K states throughout a lifetime. I myself, can introspectively see my own development from r to K, back to r, then to K again, to (possibly) a Super K ? (supporting/leading a larger familial genetic pool/community, at the expense of failing to pass on my own genetics...) Speaking to your point, however, I do believe that, ultimately, most apex organisms do aspire towards K status, but perhaps view themselves that way through a warped lense or lack of cognition. And yes, I can see how some could argue this post is ironic and filled with flawed-logic. Debate. The pseudo-science claptrap du jour. Why bother Once again, nothing pseudo about it. Just science. Would you like to list some, er... non-pseudo objections, shall we say? Or is it enough for you to throw around ad homs?

*Unless a change in POW helps to equalize mining power by making costs harder to scale.
...Your apparent belief that a change in PoW will make any difference in centralization is unpersuasive. No matter the technology, mining power will coalesce to those that possess the financial resources, the BizOps acumen, and most importantly the persistence and pain tolerance needed for entrepreneurship on a grand scale. I don't believe this is true. If somehow PoW can be tied to a smartphone for "one phone one vote", those who have financial resources can screw themselves against the brute force of several billion smartphone users. Just No. Those that have the resources will run hundreds of android emulator VMs on each of hundreds of servers, and we'll be right back with the same centralization problem we have today. We won't, if we switch to to a RAM and RAM-access intensive PoW algo. Let them try to emulate terabytes of RAM in a time efficient way. No eh? Just as I thought.

Or ideally a regular change (2 yr?) is baked in so its a regular reset. How about that? limit the return for custom hardware

Ignored. But it's interesting how Vertcoin is pumping lately. It must be a coincidence. It can't be related to the ASICs politics b/s in BTC.

There is no reason to think that genetic differences within the human species can significantly affect reproductive strategy or political belief.
There's that lack of introspection I was referring to... Your daily reading: A surprising turn of events comes your way, but it could be just what the doctor ordered. You could sulk and pout and complain that this isn't what you expected -- and refuse to deal with the situation. On the other hand, you could acknowledge the disappointment, make the best of what you've got and then end up enjoying the recent circumstances, which could turn out to be quite beneficial.

On a totally unrelated note, alt gold is down to 1% and I haven't even seen any yet. Not the candied apple windfall some of us had hoped for.

BTG could have had "some potential" had they not been so secret about it and didn't premine it. That alone makes it a non-starter.

You buy this stuff, Bob? Should I look into it? What _does_ the scientific community have to say about it? I haven't done much reading lately.
