Are we officially aiming at lambo now? Is this the new satoshi's vision?
Nope. This will fizzle out and the principles of self starting, decentralisation and egalitarianism will win out. So when the next Consensus comes round I expect NY to be filled with Africars.

Forbes 2011...indeed...made my day...that is what is so great about bitcoin for the press. One week you can FUD the heck out of BTC and then flip the next week and say moon ...and you have constant news and constant ad $$$ coming in. Rinse/Wash/Repeat. Man, journalism-wise it is 'have your cake and eat it too!' Easy/Peasy Ad revenue...cover BTC advocates and BTC haters...all looking at your articles and all seeing your Ad's etc Grist for the Mill! if success is global adoption.
it isn't Are we officially aiming at lambo now? Is this the new satoshi's vision? [notrolling] maybe first layer (the pure Bitcoin blockchain) will be used as a store of value to replace Gold and of course as the basis of the second layer. second layer will then lead to fast global payments and other use cases. timeframe for this 5 to 10 years again. [/notrolling] If this pump-dump scheme will repeat some cycle, bitcoin will be considered a very bad store of value, and indeed it will be. A good store of value is something that everybody trust is worth something now and will be worth something in the future, and that mantain value over time

You don't get to be a store of value without an insane amount of wreckage on the way up, especially when it starts literally at zero. Bitcoin fans simultaneously believe it's much bigger and much smaller than it actually is. To be a global store of value, and a stable one, it has to be many times larger than it is now which means plenty more outrage to come. Anyone parking their retirement funds in this at this stage is a twat.

Interesting narrative but I'm not sure bitcoin price and sentiment will ultimately be held back by futures and the likes of things which are not bitcoin and just like the community rejected bcash as the one true coin, we will not settle for less than controlling private keys. It's part of the attractive fundamentals don't ya know. And I think it's highly unlikely that bitcoin could be tamed like this while its usefulness continues to grow with today's power struggles. Probably well written FUD is my guess.

Indeed. I put my sex change fund in. I put all my personal work product into it. I feel like John Galt, working for paper money to pay the paper bills but working for bars of gold for the real world. Except it's bitcoin.

Number of shorts is on the ATH so it makes sense to reduce the amount of them... so I expect that the price will go up

I don't think that it is easy to purchase straight btc in ret funds. As a surrogate, there is that swedish ETN (Bitcoin Tracker One, ticker CXBTF in US) that you can theoretically purchase for $ in US now.
You can do it in Fidelity, under two conditions: 1. You have to sign some kind of agreement that says that you are, basically, a most aggressive investor who may lose all of your money. 2. It also costs extra $50 fee for a foreign settle, so this only make some sense for larger purchases.
Strangely enough, you can see the quote on Ameritrade, but rep on the phone told me that I cannot buy it (at least in ret. account), even though I have the most aggressive status there too (to trade options, albeit very infrequently).
