I have to admit that among the crypto traders the overwhelming mass of inexperienced people, here is why we see such a big volatility!!

the reason for the high volatility is only that there is very little investment in the asset so far

my latest tactic for idiots who try to tell me what bitcoin is or isn't or simply people I don't really like ... I try to talk them into buying altcoins, especially ether and ripples tokens, give it the good old pump.

... so sick of people asking about crypto and then talking about "blockchain" or shitcoins. Shitcoin scams in our time is a bigger net loser than Mt. Gox, whose customers will actually be made whole in fiat.

Despite my protests and my strong encouragement to buy bitcoin instead, my best friend bought a bunch of ETH at $300 last summer. Bitcoin was around $3,000 at that time.

You literally cannot talk any sense into some people. They're determined to throw their money away.

I think they are the ones that know you were right all along but want to get in and do it a little different than what you said so they can say "see I was right". Even though they don't have the facts there seems to be a inordinate amount of people on this earth that seem to think they are born with knowledge and discount research as fake news.

I had to look that one up too.

In addition, entrepreneurship played as large a role then as it does now. He started by selling candy bars and pocketing $50 per week. By his 16th birthday, he had saved enough money to purchase himself a white Ford Mustang. His parents largely disapproved of the purchase, and in retaliation, his father placed an ad in the local paper to sell the white Ford Mustang. Almost every man I've met in my life that has had a similar adolescent backstory and history with their parents has turned out to be a reckless Narcissist sociopath as an adult. With a constant history of making brash, miscalculated mistakes. Usually involving personal relationships, money/business ventures, or both.

They blame everyone else and society for their problems and ill-fate. They usually end up alone, broke and heavily in debt, or both.

That's just it.  It really doesn't.  It was not designed to be a SOV.  It token was designed to be "gas" on the "world computer" (read: throbbing attack surface).  And even if that was a good idea (it is not) that token should be high velocity and low value.

And that is not even the elephant in the room.  In fact there are thousands of elephants (ICOs) in a room with one tiny door.  We saw a mini stampede this week.  It will get worse.  It has to.

For those who have eyes to see it ETH's future has been certain from the beginning. 

It's too bad that it has to sully the reputation of projects like Bitcoin on it's way to hell. 

But Bitcoin has survived worse.

Hah, being from a broken family and paying board since I was 15 I never would have had the money to buy that nice a car. But even if I did if my mother didn't want me to have it I would have had to move out to keep it. She would have and did chase me down the street with a bat once! She was like "you think your too big now" and grabbbed a bat and did her best to kill my ass.

This causes so much joy to well up in the cockles of my heart.

It's too bad it won't ruin him completely...  but at least it but a huge dent in him.

Also his ASIC business is about to go to hell as well.  It will not take any investors long to see what a shambles his cardboard tent city of a company is worth at this point.  His own chip designer has moved on and is already has working tape outs.

You know it does make me kinda sad that I can't feel sorry for some of the member of *this* community who have spent the last year waving their private parts in our faces talking about how we were all pooping on Satoshi's true vision and anyonecanspend etc.  There was the constant pompous air of superiority and glib smugness.
