Tesla Owner: "My car is only 5 years old and the battery went bad! What do you mean that you no longer have a replacement OEM battery that fits my year model??? "
All Tesla batteries are are a mountain of Panasonic 18650s bunched together. They're slightly larger than an AA battery. If your battery dies, order thousands of them from Ebay and the family Christmas can be spent with everyone stuffing them into the battery tray. Should be done by New Year. The battery longevity stats are actually seriously impressive. There are 200,000 mile cars with about 85% capacity left. It's the software side of things that's more of a concern, especially if your car is 'blacklisted' for a non official repair. I don't think people will take too kindly to the cloud esque form of 'ownership' compared to the traditional one when it comes to cars.

That may be true, but I still think until the whole EV industry standardizes on components like standard batteries, EV cars will kinda remain "throwaway" vehicles. Because of the fast turnover of the still evolving technologies. Not like my classic truck that is 48 years old, runs like a champ, and still has parts and components that are easily available. It's the software side of things that's more of a concern, especially if your car is 'blacklisted' for a non official repair. Yep, that is a very serious concern.

The fact that Facebook and other data scandals came as a surprise to anyone indicates that the average consumer is either too stupid to realize the implications or just simply doesn't care.

That makes sense but the same applies for many a conventional car too. My main runaround is ten years old based off a twenty year old design and is humongously more serviceable and less filled with shite than modern cars. Something with keyless entry, fly by wire throttle and brakes, light bulbs that require the entire front end taking apart to change and measures to actively discourage non dealer servicing will be certifiable junk long before something decades older is. Back to Ladas for everyone.

@kurious Nice, thanks. All looks good to me apart from the 10K limit. Do bitcoin withdrawals count against that as well?
(protip - its really easy to up the daily withdraw limit to 100K or 250K (probably more but never tried) simply ask, and yee will be granted, there is an option to increase limits in the withdraw section) You beat me to it, there was indeed an 'increase your limit' link by the daily limit, I should have said. I assume 'ask and ye shall receive' to be the order of the day - I just haven't tried yet.... EDIT: Doh! I really shouldn't reply to posts before I have actually caught up on the thread. It's just so busy here right now.

Teslas will have zero long term resale value.
Tesla Owner: "My car is only 5 years old and the battery went bad! What do you mean that you no longer have a replacement OEM battery that fits my year model??? "
What about stocking up on batteries? Not sure what they cost, but if that's the only issue then those things could last longer than traditional cars. Not sure about the economics of this though. replacement battery packs will everywhere, just look at how many places you can get oem compatible batteries for UPSs cell phones etc. unless telsa has some security chip/thing thing going, havent bothered to find out. since ive blown so many engines, transmissions, and assorted drive train components the simplicity of an electric motor at each wheel appeals to me. and having 100% torque at zero RPM is killer.

Don't worry, BTC is not going so low. My prediction is that December will be a real struggle, afterwards, the price will begin to recover, whales would probably use mass media to pump the price by consecutive good news. There's the old investment wisdom, saying you should sell when you hear about an investment at your hairdresser (sorry, I can't find a literal quote to add as a reference). At the end of last year, one of my nieces wanted to buy Bitcoin. That would have been the perfect cue to sell! There's another old investment wisdom: "the time to buy is when there's blood in the streets" ( Rothschild), " even if the blood is your own". Currently, the " Bitcoin is dead" news is stronger than I've ever seen. Based on this old investment wisdom, that would make it the time to buy now. Note: I don't give investment advice, I'm not buying, I'm not selling. I'm just enjoying the ride up, crying the ride down If i recall correct, it was actually Rockefeller who said it, not the rothchild(s)

I am not among the Tesla haters, I think they are pushing the tech in a good way, do be aware what happens when a large lithium chemistry battery decides to combine with oxygen however. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdDi1haA71Q

If you drink regularly it will probably be quicker for you. I normally only partake in the herb, especially during the time I started my experiment. No drinks for years beyond 2-3 days per year when some friends had their birthdays or came on their rare visits, so it probably took me longer to adjust to the taste of alcohol than others.

My bcash-ABC short is getting prettier. Its prettiness doubled in 24 hours. Wish I'd had the foresight to short harder.
