The anti-crypto types are out for blood at the hearing on Libra. In that Bitcoin/Altcoins are the 'bastard stepchildren' under the Libra project...this is getting ugly indeed.

I had to walk away....so little facts...so much posturing. Also, beating up Zuckenberg for not inforcing 'truth' like Anti-Vaccine posts by individuals. All practicality is gone

from the hearings, just a frigging free for all of misinformation/lies/and pushback at Facebook. Shit. if I was Facebook, I'd go, don't like Libra, gonna go fully decentralized

with Bitcoin. Man, they would really howl then. What a clusterf*ck of a hearing.

Brad

That would be great if they'd peg Libra to BTC, that would make more sense. Libra could be the daily currency, and BTC remains the store of value. At least we have McHenry in the House as a crypto-booster. I expect in the next 2 or 3 congressional elections we'll get some new blood that isn't so against the concept. I'm guessing Maxine Waters still uses a rotary dial phone and writes paper checks.

Facebook said that Bitcoin did not 'scale' enough for them to use such. It is a moot point IMHO if the Government can stop Facebook (Libra) from using and controlling

their own cryptocurrency, I'm pretty sure they could make it impossible for Facebook to use Bitcoin. They would simply make it too difficult in other regulatory aspects of

Facebook to allow that. So the whole exercise is probably just a dead-end anyway. Likely all this Libra effort has done has opened them up to more regulations on content.

Sad

Bakkt Bitcoin Futures Volume Bounces to New All Time High.

Following a sluggish start spanning nearly one month, Bakkt Bitcoin futures volume seems to have started the day on the right foot on Wed, Oct 23. Nearly one-third of the day has passed and a whopping 370 BTC futures contracts have already been traded on the platform.

That's a good point. Though I suspect behind the scenes where the real practical regulatory discussions are taking place by analysts that bitcoin is still front and center.

Good point. There was an old cartoon about how would you like you cryptocurrency scare, terrorism or paedophilia flavored? I guess we can add facebook (or 'big tech'* in general) to the options now.

*To be clear, there's a lot about big tech that's a problem but using it for scaremongering is a nasty tactic.

and there goes $7400 .. oh oh

Continuing until 6800BTC before rebound back to 8000 above. I hate that 7.7k support was broken. I dunno now what will gonna happened on crypto market. I hope some support will form at 6K so that the dump will not escalate that much.

The RSI is super below the chart.  Grin

Do you think there will be a strong price correction before or after halvening?  I'm not asking you for financial advice, I just want to know what you expect more.

Not expecting us to drop below $6k USD/BTC before the halvening, but anything can happen. I do expect the price to be back above $10k before the halvening, but don't have a good "gut feel" for where we will be six months out, post-halvening. Too many variables are unknowable right now.

If I was to pull a number out my ass right now, I would guess around $20k USD/BTC, six months out, post-halvening. Trying to set my targets intentionally low so as not to completely bum myself out sorta thing.
Yes, as practice shows, the lower the expectations, the more pleasant it is to look at the chart!  Cheesy

The new price is a little painful but not completely unexpected.  Fell back asleep just after 7.4k and had a dream that it shot to 9.3 before I could get my buy order in.
So relieved to wake up from that nightmare.

By the way, WTF is GBTC from greyscale?
