As I am not a programmer nor expert in crypto, I have arrived at HODLing some 1% (of my net), the minimum that JJG suggests above.  1% is probably close to what I understand BTC to be.  Risks and rewards are both high.  1% is the right amount for me in that if BTC price craters, it changes very little for me.  If it climbs to a nice ATH, well great!

If you're only willing to put 1% of your money in something, it's definitely not an 'investment'.  A high risk, pump and dump scam maybe, but only willing to risk 1% is not an investment.  To me the word investment implies you actually have confidence in what you're purchasing, and 1% is not confidence.  That would be gambling, not investing (from the relative viewpoint of the individual).

I mostly agree with this. A 1% allocation would've been reasonable pre-2016 or so, when bitcoin was still a possible black swan event in the making, or possibly a flash in the pan.

Since we're making recommendations here, I'll recommend everyone has 40%+ of their net worth in bitcoin. Go big or go home.

Whoaza!!!!!  That makes hardly no sense.    We have masses and masses of peeps who have 0% in bitcoin.  We don't go from o0% to 40%, it is just not reasonable for regular peeps.  Gotta get many peeps off of 0% first before getting to 40%.... in other words, gotta walk before running, and surely you are probably attempting to address those who are already walking, but that is not reflective of the real world of peeps who are mostly not even walking.

Observing $7,622

Mini Friday pump, hopefully it could continue into the weekend. I miss $8,000. I really want to send somebody $50 worth of corn though.

When VEGETA?

Good morning gentlemen!

$50 worth of BTC for the first person to successfully post a Vegeta meme when we cross $9,000 again Wink (Bitstamp)

I’m bored, thought it’d be cool to keep people on their toes and play a game Smiley

Edit - Please post screenshot of Bitstamp price to prove as my good friend fillippone says ‘trespassing of $9,000’

... hurling obscenities at an idealistic little girl.
Greta Thunberg: New beetle named after climate activist

A newly-discovered species of beetle has been named after young climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Nelloptodes gretae bears little resemblance to its namesake - it is less than 1mm long, and has no wings or eyes.

The insect does, however, have two long pigtail-like antennae.

Scientist Dr Michael Darby said he chose the name because he was "immensely impressed" by the Swedish teenager's environmental campaigning.

N. gretae was first found in Kenya in the 1960s by William Block, who donated his samples to the Natural History Museum in London in 1978. It has been held in one of the museum's collections since.

Dr Darby was studying this collection when he came across the then-nameless species.

Dr Darby named a roach after the girl.

Here is my current bitcoin price observation:
The key level for medium and longterm is around $8800 or $8900. This is a major resistance.
There are 3 resistance lines between 8800 and 8900 usd (the weekly 21 EMA, the daily 200 MA and the daily 50 MA). We need to close the biger timeframe candle above it to get the bullish momentum back.
For the short term we have important levels around $6800 (the daily 50 MA). We also have currently the short term trendline around $7200/7300.
But the most important thing is $8800 to $8900 area.

Say what you will, the young autist has already accomplished more with her life than any of us ever will.

True, but nothing is quite as exhilarating as reading posts from adult middle aged men disparaging teenage girls.

Nice call, it does look increasingly likely that BTC will fall to the $5-6k area, this is what I've been saying since before Bitcoin broke down from the descending triangle. However I'm expecting it to be short lived and bounce back sharply. Ideally a tidy v-shaped bottom to come, followed by longer-term consolidation somewhere between $8-12k, but that's just a hope and theory. This $200 bounce means nothing but short opportunities in my opinion, going up to the rejection level of $7750 100 Week MA (old support).
