Caught the flu twice in December. Developed into a nasty dry cough towards the end of fighting off the second flu. Never felt worse in my life before. Doctor diagnosed me with "Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome" and the lung x-rays results showed signs of mild bronchitis.

This sounds like the same flu that swept the southern hemisphere last winter ... the nasty dry cough will linger for weeks and relapse flu bouts for 2, 3 or even 4 relapses about 2-3 weeks apart.

Also watch out for people with heart conditions, the virus appears to be attacking lung and heart muscles, cases of flu-induced heart failure were being reported, especially amongst the elderly.

yeah, I know it was hell ... really sneaky bastard thing too.

The first bout was headaches, runny eyes, achey bones, tiredness, acute symptoms but nothing too serious ... then when you thought you were over it, BAM came back again in 2-3 weeks with sore throat, sinus pain, runny nose, coughing, laid up in bed ... then after getting over that it came back again in 2-3 weeks with all the chest pains, dry cough, really fucked-up feeling.

Like a designer flu the pharmas designed themselves in terms of amount of care and medicines needed to combat symptoms, but they over-stepped the mark with that heart failure shit   ... evil.

Dude put me on Z-Pak for 5 days (antibiotic), Albuterol inhaler, and QVAR inhaler corticosteroid to reduce inflamation. Platelet counts are higher than normal, likely due to fighting off the infections, but seeing a hematologist some-time this week to get the official rundown - Currently taking baby asprin every morning to thin my blood out a bit in the meantime.

Getting old fucking sucks.

Getting sick this year changed my perspective. Will be getting the shot next October.

Quite a mistake you made. I get flu shots every year, it's quick, painless and cheap. Hope you get better soon.

I got knocked real hard this winter myself (now summer here) but yeah there was a particularly bad cold/flu going around and it sucked. Took me about four weeks to get all my energy back and even had to take a few days off work. Not fun guys, stay well out there!

Dude, that's how all my health problems started, almost 10 years ago now...
Four weeks of virus (with delayed bacterial super-) infection followed by years of fatigue. Get some high quality probiotics to restore the colon from antibiotics (or make your own kefir).

Still a 50% chance to catch an influenza virus from a stem not included in the vaccine.
The brother of the mother of my daughter's best friend (...) got bad influenza in decemeber, even though he gets annual flu shots (working at the hospital).
Better than nothing, but those little bastards evolve way quicker than we do.
