Are there shortages of anything in the supermarkets when you go shopping?
Context: I have 3 big supermarket in a 800 radius. One of them is open 24/7. So pretty big choice. As of now they are pretty furnished. Something is actually missing: - Alchool (not wine, the one used to clean surfaces)
- Hand sanitizers
- latex gloves
This is the items I actively looked for, but couldn’t find. Logistic is pretty intact for the moment, so I could find everything I needed for my shopping list. (Something is missing in that pizza, but it’s my fault, not shop’s). So I would say that FOR NOW, there are no shortages. I reckon i undervalued the importance of stuffing, but I live una a big city, I guess I am plenty of options, for the moment. The true inconvenience is the long queues for the shop: I felt like a communist era Russian waiting for my turn.

Can't speak for anyone else but in Germany, the supermarkets are empty shelves. Its insane.
USA Puget Sound area supply report We went out for a few "nice to haves" and some top up yesterday No dairy, no paper, no chlorine, no isopropyl, very little meat, one choice in eggs, noticeable gaps in canned goods and baking supplies. Packaged foods and produce seemed to be holding up pretty well. People were fucking weird, we won't be going out again.

How long do you have to wait to get in? Wanted to try one of the three. Wanted to buy stuff for my pizza. Shop opens at 8:00 arrived there at 7:45. Might have been 60th in queue. Shop opens, 10 people enter, shop, exit: one out, one in. I entered at 8:45, exited at 9:10. I have been told there is a lot of people in the morning (queue builds up before shops open, because people are weird and go there very early. Every day is different. That particular shop closes at 10:00PM, being told no one is there in late evening (I was afraid of finding less things-have been reassured on this- and less clean -also saw LOT of people cleaning everywhere). Online shopping not feasible di to very high demand and delivery all booked for two weeks.

"My best guess, for what it is worth, based on the latest Center for Disease Control data, is that confirmed COVID-19 (this specific form of the common cold) cases will not exceed 0.1% of the US population. Moreover, I do not think, when we look back on 2020, that the causes of death or serious injury will have changed much from 2017, for example: (CDC statistic)." Elon doesn't panic. That's good for Elon but he's not going to find Mars anywhere near as forgiving as Earth when it comes to errors in judgement. Let's be careful ourselves. Moon is a harsh mistress too.

Hey Searing - I gotta question... For me, every one of your posts has bizarre carriage returns or line feeds or something. Do you use lynx or some other pre-GUI tool to browse the WO? Just wonderin'...

Anyone else getting random unexpected CLIs on their CCs?
Umm, yeah. About 2 weeks ago. Didn't realize it was endemic. Fascinating.

Also what's happening in the US, at least the 'merica portions of it... https://news.yahoo.com/buyers-virus-fears-priority-isnt-184327709.htmlSome dealers said an unusually high proportion of sales have been to first-time gun buyers.
“We attribute it mainly to the virus scare,” said Hyatt, whose gun store has seen sales increase 30% to 40% percent since late February. The presidential election and stock market fluctuations have also been driving business, he said, and the store is now selling more than 300 firearms a week.
“People have a little lack of confidence that if something big and bad happens, that 9-1-1 might not work. We saw it with Katrina,” Hyatt said, referring to the breakdown in emergency response after the 2005 hurricane on the Gulf Coast. “People haven’t forgotten that a disaster happened, and the government didn’t come.”
Bubut... with Katrina, the government did indeed come. The national Guard came, and confiscated everyone's firearms. Maybe the'll refuse this time. Then again, first time gun buyers probably have exactly one box of the cheapest target ammo the store had.

https://www.morningstar.com/news/dow-jones/202003173908/regeneron-to-begin-large-scale-manufacturing-of-covid-19-treatment-in-aprilRegeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Tuesday its scientists have isolated hundreds of virus-neutralizing, fully human antibodies from the company's VelocImmune mice, which have been genetically-modified to have a human immune system.
The biotechnology company said it has also isolated antibodies from humans who have recovered from Covid-19 to maximize the pool of potentially potent antibodies.
From this large pool of candidates, Regeneron will select the top two antibodies for a cocktail treatment based on potency and binding ability to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, as well as other desirable qualities, and begin production in April.
