Putin could end this, but he's not the man he used to be. He was known to be rational with his decisions, but i can't see any rationality here. I guess that ongoing isolation in the fear of SARS-CoV-2 messed with his brain.
I feel sorry for everyone involved and having to suffer, regardless of nationality. This war is completely unnecessary. It's the result of a couple of complex happenings, from the pandemic, to various (also inter-) national political parties, economic forces and their shared weakness of corruption, and not to forget: Foreign influential agendas carried out over the course of years.

Sanity seems to become even more scarce than Bitcoin. (To stay a wee little bit on topic.)

Yeah, to be honest this whole situation is just plain baffling. It really doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense.

Well, I just replaced the head gasket on my super efficient car. From 15mpg to 50mpg, I rule the fuel pumps...

(Note: Replacing head gaskets sucks. But spending good $$$ on a top notch torque wrench is nice)

Hopefully you remembered to use an air compressor to blow out all the moisture/debris in those head-bolt holes. (This is the number one reason for premature headmaster failure.)

Yes the job SUCKS! but beats the hell out of a complete engine swap. (Mainly due to money saved and uncertainty about longevity of a replacement engine)

The loop is tightened around the neck of the regime in Kiev. Justice will be served very soon!

You may be right judging by the one and a half million refugees (mainly women and children) that have fled the war and invasion.

Ordinary people like me and you, their lives destroyed.

What sort of justice will be served then?

Executions of the elected government officials to be replaced by Russian appointed stooges.

May not end soon either, near where I live military jets have been active all night long and again today above cloud cover.

Perhaps testing F16s in readiness to hand over to Poland in exchange for the MiG-29s and Su-25s donated to Ukraine?

Or preparing for a no fly zone?

The Europeans will get dragged into this war one way or another and not by choice while America will eventually be forced to under NATO obligations.

There are no winners!

Yep, bastard of a job. Remember doing it on my RB26 some years back but at least I took advantage of it by giving the head a port and polish, new valves and throwing some cams at it.

Still not something I'll rush to do again in a hurry

In all seriousness, has btc ever looked .....<snipped... the usual llama laughable logic>

Whoa! Looks like Llama Llama has stepped it up a notch.  Some serious bullishshitness here folks.

FTFY  Grin
Got a hundred bucks for corn, will i spend them today to lower the price?
Or will i wait, so it goes up again?

 Huh Roll Eyes Tongue

So i bought for 100 USDT, which were lying around on an exchange and i had forgtten them.
Price went down, as expected.
However, i #HODL on!

Thanks for taking one for the team, even if deep down on the inside you had not really wanted to.

Deep down inside, i really wanted to spend the 100 bucks. I had not planned to buy anything, and as i couldn't find something to spend it on, i considered it useless as virtual fiat lying around in a data storage somewhere on this planet. Now it's exchange crypto, which will find it's home on the public Bitcoin blockchain soon.
So far i'm good with that  Grin
It's still strange to wish for lower prices, while knowing i would  watch my BTC net worth shrink and feel quite unpleasant doing so. Like knowing it's actually good but it doesn't feel that way, like an appointment at the dentist  Cheesy

I hope you also refuse to drive your car because the US is still buying oil from Russia...  I think thats very messed up but nobody seems to care about that. Roll Eyes I guess oil profits are more important.

Sure it does. Just follow the money and the monetary incentives for an invasion of Ukraine, and everything falls into place.

For the people? No, it absolutely doesn't make any sense.

I think this is because things are not exactly as they seem.  Same as with the pandemic.

That brings back memories.  I used to own an old beater truck that had the check engine light always on, which meant it wouldn't pass inspection.  Taping over the light was no good since it would have been totally obvious, so I took the dashboard off and stuck the tape inside.  Totally impossible to see it.  And it passed inspection.

Yep. And oiled the bolts, and oiled the washers, and used an OEM gasket set, and did the 3 step torque-down and put on the right gasket sealant and got the whole thing on in 5 minutes and....

It's a royal pain in the teeth. At least it's a timing chain so setting TDC+TDC head allows you to mark the chain in 3 places for quick and easy assembly/alignment. And the new torque wrench is the bomb, it even can tell you when you're hitting the 90 degree point when doing the final turns based not on where you start but when the slack is taken up on the socket. THAT is way better than the old beam wrench.

(Also now that I think about it, if you had debris in the bottom of the hole then you would never be able to turn the bolt the last 90 degrees as it would jam up or strip. I don't know if any modern cars do the "torque to 80nm on the bolts in sequence" anymore, they seem to do a torque to 20, then 40, then a 90 degree turn in sequence. Hm...)

1.5 million refugees in 11 days. That is just astonishing. That is more than all the Syrian refugees that fled to Europe over 10 years (1 million).

I think there is a very big chance Europe will get dragged into this for the reasons you pointed out (supplying aircraft, or starting a no fly zone).

The USA giving the "green light" for Poland to supply aircraft seems to indicate that this is a proxy war already, which may become a full scale WW3.

I hope Ukrainian hodlers who can escape are holding onto their keys also.

Are you just making shit up, ToxicMoxic?

There is no absolute formula in terms of what has to happen before king daddy is able to go up, especially to suggest that it has to have some kind of opposite correlation to shitcoins.. and the extent to which there is correlation or not to shitcoins is all over the place.  Much of the time they are hanging onto bitcoin's coattails until they are not.

Another thing.  Remember April to June 2019?  Do you believe that supports your point?  I don't think so.  in early 2019, there were a lot of folks suggesting that bitcoin was going to have to suffer with the purgening of the froth of alts.. and that shit did not happen.  Bitcoin pumped and the shitcoins largely stayed stagnant.. who fucking knows what the shitcoins did because who was paying attention?

Anyhow my point is that there is no "x has to happen to shitcoins before bitcoin can pump".. that's nonsense, and you should realize that by now.  Sure shit can happen including bitcoin and shitcoins going down together, but I am not going to presume that to be any kind of condition precedent - especially given the overall state of affairs at the moment.. whether considering what is going on with shitcoins, considering what is going on with macro-circumstances, and considering where bitcoin happens to be in its cycle (to the extent that anyone happens to believe in such "cycle" existing) and any other potentially relevant factors that I have not mentioned (mining anyone?).
