Do someone already have this issue with claymore : " can't allocate big buffer for dag" ? and know how to avoid ??

Does your card have at least 4GB of memory?

3 GB actually, it's 2GB and less cards that can't mine ETH any more but my pair of R9 280x 3GB still can (had them swapped over a couple nights back for a bit to do some hashrate checking on genoil).

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!
Like something I said? Donations gratefully accepted. LYLnTKvLefz9izJFUvEGQEZzSkz34b3N6U (Litecoin)

It worked thank you.
I had tried it the day before, but the change was not saved ... After your message I re applied it and it was good.

This rig worked since months without any trouble, and began to show me the weird issue two days ago ...
Solved anyway !

ETH block times are horrible. Has the network hash rate increased that much or are we entering the Ice Age?

Did some more research...

It's the network hash rate.  Over the last month,  the difficulty has increased by 50% (50%!!!), but the hash rate has also increased by approximately 50%.

Date           Hashrate        Difficulty
3/1/2017      10.8 TH/s       149,581,000,000,000

Is there a way to reduce stale shares in Eth mining ?

You can lower the time it takes for claymore to talk with the pool on new jobs
That might help.
It helps a little for dcr mining

Thanks guys,

so there seems to be 3 way to improve stale rate :

-overclock but it seems more related to rejected than stales.

-etht   Time period between Ethereum HTTP requests for new job in solo mode, in milliseconds. Default value is 200ms.

-switching between US/EU pools

-get back -ethi to 8 instead of 16 according to claymore troobleshooting part.

Let's work !

NB : if you can take a look at your stats, I would be glad to know your stale and rejected rates, so estimate what is normal or not.

Ensure that none of your rigs are resetting too many times.
Stable and steady cards without too much OC is best.
This may disrupt stratum connection and submit stales during the catchup process.
However, stales submitted may get your uncles payout no?

BTW, I contacted my local Sapphire distributor for 60 x RX480 or 470 quote for my group's 2nd GPU farm....
.... and they are out of stock !!!

Seems there is a shortage of AMD RX cards across the board and they say earliest by May for new stock.
The sales guys said that this has happened before ... when AMD want to steer the market to buy the new
product line (RX500???)

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...
