Hi, does exist a telegram or a slack group for all the news about helium coin?

There is an auto-invite for Slack listed in the OP.  Smiley

Everyone please be advised, as it doesn't seem to be clear.

THE DATE FOR THE SNAPSHOT IS NOT AUGUST 1.

The new snapshot date will be announced later, and will take place sometime before the September launch.

I guess this is a green light for people to dump SPR for BTC/BCC snapshot August 1st, and then re-buy SPR for the delayed HLM snapshot. Someone made some healthy sells near 50k sat price a few days ago.

From what I've read so far about Spreadcoin and Helium, Helium is the version2 of Spreadcoin. I could be wrong.

SpreadCoin is scrypt algo and Helium will be x11 algo, also the masternode model has  a slightly different approach,
Helium will follow Dash (1.000 coins are required / allocated).

Both coins have their own dev and roadmap (that is the reason of the 'split')

Spreadcoin is not scrypt, it uses SpreadX11, a modified X11 algo.

Spreadcoin have no ASICs but Helium will only be mined by ASICs effectively because of X11, mostly from multipools by people who won't ever know they're mining HLM as they just get paid in BTC.

And it's pretty much guaranteed HLM's difficulty will get kicked to super high and stuck there for a while a few times if ASICs kick it off and leave - once the price drops or interest fades.

Not your keys, not your coins!

Is there any reason why they went x11 vs an asic resistant algo? And is there a chance coin algo may change before release or is it set as x11

Pretty hard to find any reason.

Someone could think for potential personal interest, with a proprietary X11 asic farm. Going for ASIC in 2017 it's not wise, give the market conditions.

This is on the first post of the ANN.

Code:
* PoW only algo X11 (with a review being made to change to something else after we fork off DASH code).

Too bad they went with X11..no luck for small GPU miners.
I was hoping to get some HLM at the begining but that won't be the case.

It'a a Dash fork and maybe in the beginning you can mine with GPU because the most Asics will be on Dash,
and almost every masternode coin that is released recently is x11 (dash fork) like CreamCoin, Das, etc.

Helium want to be mined by ASIC miners, we even planning to design our own as well. More hashpower mean more secure network. That is more important then home mining.

not true, you can secure any coin with gpu alone, big farm can do that without problem, look at ETH, it's secured without asic, you can't 51% that easily without buying 2M gpu

Yes, you are right, you can secure a coin with a GPU farms... But which one consume less energy and generate less running expenses for the miner? ASIC or GPU farms?

I'm planning to build this on my own, using a VM. That way it will help HLM in distributing Masternodes globally. I'm in a GMT+8 timezone btw.  Grin

If there's a Beta MN, I'd be happy to test it. Just give me the steps and instructions how to set it up.   Smiley

Attaboy!!! we will have to wait til the 1st week of September to be able to redeem the said HLM . Plus shop around a server to host your masternode.

I would like to know where your 5 data-centres are located, which countries and regions?
Do you have the same price regardless the location?
