what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?

the capacitors on these cards are rated for 90 000 hours(10 years) @70c.
According to Steve Burke at Gamers Nexus you're looking at 5000 or 10000 hours @ 105C. Not saying it is gospel, just parroting what he says. Video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WWfj7RF_z8&t=874sFor everyone's benefit and enjoyment... Are there really people running their GPU's at 105C? I dont believe so, to much throttle to run it at that temp vrms can hit 100+ *C anyway i have run various cards for years 24/7/365 at folding and mining, only lost a couple fans. but i do keep them clean and cool(ish).

The cards are built to run @70C, its a fact. Now if you want to go ahead and run them @85C its your business.

How much underwolt are you guys able to run on your cards while still overclocking? Im running my cards at around +100 core while having 90% power draw.
Thats where silicon lottery kicks in as some of the cards are already maxed out at factory settings like aorus extreme while others are can be oc without problem. Also different algos different power draw and oc

Where this 'fact' comes from?. Even working temperature of CPU depend on each generation. No air-cooled 1080ti will run @70 C in any demanding game. You can argue that's only for short sessions, but the world is full of crazy gamers miners. Many of them run in SLI, where the card on the top will reach 85C easily. I think the lifetime depends on the card quality. I put my money in a hight quality board, like these of FTW3/Srix/Lighting/etc, running at 75C 24/365 instead of a cheap card running at 65C 24/365. All this discussion is a bit silly. As long as the card is under warranty it's a manufacturer's problem, not our business, to make sure that the card is not fried under extreme conditions while the warranty is active.

Where this 'fact' comes from?. after 70C you get a significant lifespan drop , even mining softwares change the color from green to yellow as soon as a card reach 70C

While XZC is still profitable for me and maybe has a future, I started with BWK today to see if it's any good. Should make 2x XZC profits (higher power usage though). Was getting 0.9~ XZC per day in december now just 0.5, this new diff really sucks =/
Jkcrypto has some awesome posts on this, really good updated info for us with 1080 ti!
Were u able to run the miner he posted? Mine crashes with an windows error. If not, Which miner are u using? Yep I'm using the miner he posted. It's just a CC miner modded (palgin version) I'm running win 7, if you are running something else try comp mode maybe? Or try other ccminer unmodded. I'm getting 88mh/s with 100% power +75 core +0 mem Been mining for around 18 hours and I have probably around 0.79 BWKs (since pool deposits every 4~ hours and its been a few hours without deposits). Since BWK is around $10, I guess $10 per day is pretty accurate!

but that's cap temperature, it's not the GPU or VRAM temperature reported by the drivers. In thermal maps the GPU is the hottest region of the card, and caps are surely several degrees cooler.

Guys, me, being a power electronics engineer who specialises in power circuitry can safely say there is no precise openly shared data on every component on that PCB. It's commercial knowledge thats well guarded and typically datasheets have simplified models that don't thoroughly explain cause and effects etc. So it's hard to estimate the lifetime of each and every part on that PCB even if we were to meticulously search for their datasheets. What I can safely say is that the way NVIDIA would manage this by: a) having loads of engineers simulating PCBs on 3D softwares to figure out temps on each component and b) to specify a lifetime to each manufacturer and set some legal clauses to chargeback to the parts manufacturers for EARLY failures.
The second part is more significant. Nvidia can promise customers say 3 years warranty. Nvidia will then specify the parts manufacturer to have a lifetime of 3+1 years @ 85 Celc. Next, the parts manufacturer's design teams will design for 3+1+1 years @ 85 Celc to safeguard its company's ass.
Now, there's a tradeoff of lifetime vs cost. The longer its lifetime, the more expensive it'll be. A business is a business and if Nvidia provides 3 years warranty, I expect the cards to mostly last up to 4 years if ran at our example of 85C.
Running it at a lower temp will raise its lifetime as its less stressed mechanically but I don't have the ballpark figures to say what it'll be (I know it well for PSU components). We have to get an Nvidia / AMD engineer to elaborate on that.

Yah while I like how cool and quiet the aorus extreme runs I've noticed is about maxed out of the box. I can barely overclock it at all before it becomes unstable. My evga sc2 on the other hand while not clocked as high out of the box is able to run higher clocks after adjustment vs. the aorus. Both are IMO good cards. Heat and clocks you can get are heavily dependent on algorithm. I typically don't like to run them over about 65c for long periods of time. Probably don't need to worry about it I just like to be on the safe side.
