Thanks, it worked with that command. It doesn't seem like there was any excess coin generated this way Cheesy But maybe I overlooked something. (I mean PoS blocks were generated correctly, and they are staked, but the cumulative amount hasn't moved - or maybe just a tiny tiny bit)
I think you need to leave the wallet open and unencrypted to properly mine PoS.  I was told that if you just open it unencrypted and then close it you get some but miss out on a bunch of PoS you'd get if you leave it open.  Still need more miners at http://btb.scrypthp.com we're only at 9 Mh/s, low 1.5% fee, MPOS on fast secure servers.  100% uptime since launch and I check the tickets daily.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

It doesn't have to be unencrypted, but it has to be unlocked.

And running obv.

I'll try to find the exact numbers sometime this weekend but I believe it was 500 000 coins total through PoW and then something like 5% PoS/year but I'm only going off memory and will try to dig up the proper numbers this weekend.

Now that we're nearly a year into Bitbar, I'm wondering if there is a support for a community takeover of this coin. I have been in touch with a few other BTB holders on Reddit who are discussing this, and who may be willing to put up some bounties to set the coin on a different course.  None of us were part of the original launch.

If there's generally support from the community here, I would like to proceed by finding a great developer to review the code, implement KGW into Bitbar,  explain the POS/POW algo, and help us update the look of the wallet.  I think kgw will help ensure support for our core miners who have stuck with Bitbar through thick and thin, and prevent problems down the road.

Bitbar has great assets in Cryptsy and Bter exchanges, its miners and long term holders. Bitbar remains a very unique coin in the crypto landscape. The early missteps are old news now ad well vetted, and the early parties seem to have largely moved on and cashed out.  As far as I can tell, the original Devs have not been active. I saw 1 post in the past 5 months from Bitbardev, so have to assume he's probably moved on to other projects.

We think that Bitbar can and should be better managed and promoted.

What other changes would you like to see to Bitbar?

Bitbar is going through a period of paying out stake (dividends) to users who have been holding coins for more than ~30 days. It will slow down on the creation of POS Generation blocks eventually and should resume normal operations. This is a normal occurrence for POS coins. The only downside to it, is that a POS Generation blocks is still a block and so when the network (not a miner) generates one, it still causes difficulty to climb. When it is done, diff should drop back down again.

Keep on mining and things will get back to normal eventually Smiley
