are you working on it, slush?

Yes, I'm working on it right now. Pretty complex task, trust me.

And please, don't feed trolls.

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

If you don't like Slush's pool, feel free use another or mine solo. If your concerns are valid, others will be doing the same and Slush will adjust to meet his customer's needs or go out of business. I personally don't think your concerns are valid, and will continue to use Slush's pool (for the short time remaining that mining with a single GPU is worthwhile).

If you don't trust slush at all what difference would any answer make, you wouldn't believe it anyway.

No, you want answers. That doesn't mean you are entitled to them. As with any business relationship, if you are unsatisfied you are free to take your business elsewhere.

I called you no names. I said if you don't like the pool, don't use it. You are not entitled to the use of the pool. It's operated and maintained by a private individual, not the government.

Exactly what questions? If you list your questions in a concise manner (such as a bulleted list), I will do my best to answer them.

Slush has a good reputation in the Bitcoin community. You don't. I'll let you figure out the rest.

What you make per round is irrelevant. The only thing that is relevant is what you make over time. What you make per round is subject to many many different variables that are out of your control. What you make overtime is directly controlled by your hashrate (and difficulty).

If I live that long

You don't plan on living past the next few weeks/months?  Huh

This is the image that Slush posted showing the variance as related to number of shares/proofs contributed.

If you were to contribute 1 proof of work every 10 minutes on average (a CPU Miner), then it would take you less than a week to submit 1000 proofs. The variance is actually really tight at 1000 proofs. Go out to about 4 weeks (~4000 proofs submitted) and there might as well not be any variance at all, especially when compared to share based.

*Trying* to be patient and wait for push so me (and a couple friends) can join in on the pool, just kind burns me that there are people in the pool (who I shall not name) who are complaining over nothing, when they are at least members.
GPU: ~78 Mhashes/s solo mining right now...

Hey Slush, I don't know if you consider this a bug or not, but I thought I'd report it.

The clock on one of my machines somehow got screwed up and it considered today the 21st.  The "My Account" page dutifully reported my last share as submitted (an hour ago now) on the 21st.

It doesn't look like this has had any real impact on my shares, but I don't know where else you might have coded timestamps such that trusting what the client says really does matter.

I don't beg - If I do something to deserve your BTC, you can find my address on the invoice.  Wink

Sorry if this question isn't possible to answer, I'm a complete noob at this pool mining stuff, but please bear with me! :]

So, if I were to join this pool, operating a 5850 24/7 at 220,000k/hash, how many bitcoins would I generate (on average) every 24 hours?

I'm kind of confused at the whole process  Huh

You can expect to average 5-6 BTC/day at least until the next difficulty increase.

As we slide down the banister of life, this is just another splinter in our ass.

See http://nullvoid.org/bitcoin/ for an estimate. Right now it looks like a 40% increase on Sunday evening (European time).

I know this because Tyler knows this.

If you trust your friends you could just create a new pool for you and your friends by using jgarzik's http://yyz.us/bitcoin/poold.py, it does not include cheating prevention and you'll have to figure out how to split the reward yourself, but it's a start :-)

Miner does not use computer time, so no problem here.
