Most of altcoins have no future. They have no userbase, no real life use case, just whales speculating or manipulating the market to get more BTC/ETH. Only few good gems have a chance in long term. They need;
-userbase
-active development team
-real life use
-speculators
-exchange volume

Im sure if bitcoins have a future and survive for a long time.
Not all altcoins have a future But I believe and trust some altcoins have a future like ETH, Waves, Doge, and LTC. But if bitcoins dies im sure no one altcoins cant survive

I think alt coins have a great future ahead for it and some of the altcoins proved that they are giving out new options to people who have different set of ideas, I love all altcoins making our world easier place, but we have a lot of altcoins in the market that you need to know and research it's fundamentals. we all know that some altcoins are shit and some are dead so be very cautious on investing and trading those coins.
Actually the cryptocurrency world has too many altcoins, same idea and clone more coins every day. It makes the ecosystem of the cryptocurrency world become bad more and in someday, we will have a cryptocurrency world with many shitcoin everywhere. I would also add that some new altcoins with the same concept and idea, but with better development and technology by entering market, just move away coins that were gaining potential, it is just a "war" in crypto world where only the strongest coins will survive. |

Altcoins are necessary for trading; it's the reason why traders get massive profits. That being said, not all has a promising future since there are too many pump and dump coins in the market.

Is this a serious question? Altcoins are doing better than ever, take a look at ETH, STRAT for example. Altcoins serve real world purposes that compliment bitcoin very well.

Altcoin also has a good future but not all of them. I think altcoin that has a good future is ETH, LTC, DASH, WAVES, LISK and XMR. Especially for ETH in my prediction can be bigger than BTC in the future because of uniqe technology and their platform used by many third party.

What is the future of Altcoins? time will say the answer of this question. In my oipinion some altcoins have future, others don't have.That coins which have unique features or advantages against bitcoin,There are some coins in which behind professional developers team and other important things,these coins have good future.We are not talking about majority of ICO coins. ICO coins are mainly created to get investments without thinking about future of coin. And I am not really sure that ICO coin markets will exist after some years. Some good Coins like Dash,Monero, Litecoin, and Ethereum have good future. Ethereum coin and litecoin is one my favorite altcoin because this two have big potential to increase in the future . Like ethereum I believe if bitcoin die that coin is the next king crypto currency. So its better if you buy ethereum and litecoin. Although Altcoins have future same as bitcoin since Altcoins can stand alone without bitcoin.

I think they will last longer than we think. The reason after each day there will be new coin generated in the hope of project development and some of them get listed as high potential coins. These coin then can have more life expectancy as compared the old one because they just started with market. In next few years it could happen that altcoin market will just change to higher versions with more earnings and trades which is its core area. The market is big and it can not shut so easily. I believe if hundred coins are dead today then 101 are enegarted tomorrow. So it's not gonna stop at all.
I agree with what the other friends are saying now is the price of bitcoin is indeed the highest but not close the possibility for altcoin to have no future maybe even over time can run simultaneously and for altcoin can last longer with packaging and different ways , but must be clever as well in choosing it. |

Yes altcoin have future for sure there are a lot of altcoins that has good fundamentals and has been there in the market for a long time. Ethereum is the most common example of great altcoin that has future from fundamentals to investors to players it is well played coin even if its a hype sometime you will never know how far this could go but in the end it has a future. Same is with NEO for example

I think in short term every thing is possible as we experienced high increase in prices of most of major altcoins such as Ethereum. But in long term everything depends on what will happen to Bitcoin.
In my opinion in future we will have only one acceptable cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin can solve its problems like high transaction fees that you mentioned, It will be that cryptocurrency. If not we should wait for another cryptocurrecncy that will replace Bitcoin.
We should also consider another important issue which is governments decisions. In future after accepting bitcoins by entire world, Governments would like to have more control on the system. We should wait for their decision whether they want bitcoin to be that major cryptocurrency or not.
thanks for the great answer. I think esactly the same. One acceptable cryptocurrency is the future. And government pressure into that coin is the thing to discuss in the future. But if governments try to control that system, alternative coins will survive in order to eliminate the pressure.. Clearly, you do not realize we have bitcoin because we do not want the governement to tell us what we can or cannot do. Unless they stop all internet, they cannot stop us. If needed we can expand zcash/zerocoin and ignore their dictate. I also have the same opinion. Because it is possible that one currency will master currency like bitcoin in crypto and USD in print currency. Other currency will also exist in the same way. |

Not all altcoins have a future. There are lots of coins that can't even make to exchanges and some can't exist too long to make an improvement. But there are those altcoins who are making some people even millionaires. Look at the top altcoins right now. They have been existing for years and I think they are successful and have a future.

We can not say how will altcoins end. If its going to be more popular than bitcoin or not OR will have a longer life than bitcoins. Altcoins are alternative coins. I have read much about them and the main purpose of its invention is to cover flaws of bitcoins. So the weakness of biitcoins is mainly there strength. But with a reminder these altcoins made are also from the framework of bitcoin itself. A specific altcoin may have a good trait but may be lacking one too. The future of altcoins will be depending also in the usage. Altcoins are very popular in trading and mining because they more profitable than bitcoins. If it will continue that way maybe Altcoins will also have a future, may be close to bitcoin that is.

Yes, Altcoins have very good future because many altcoins like XRP, ETH , STRAT and WAVES are growing coins. XRP coin is already used by many banks due to its low transaction fee so many banks already connected with XRP.

There will be many blockchains in the future.
Having everything on one blockchain is not logical.
So bitcoin will exist, eth will exist, etc will exist, many more will exist.
Literally, you can have thousands private blockchains at the end.
Why? Specialization and economies of scale balance each other. Commoditized processes need scale, injovation and niche needs specialization.
Dcorp/iconomi/zencash/aeternity/wagerr/gnosis/sia/golem/crown etc. alm have a reason to exist.
I have to agree. There are a lot of different ways to implement and use a blockchain and thats what we see at the moment with all this new coins. But of course a lot of them will be gone in a few years because the company/project behind it just didn't make it. Most Altcoins are more like a share to me than a currency. |
