Unfortunately that's what my source told me too . The USA did not get jack sheyt. If they did, it'd have been all over the news as in the past.

The BTC-e admin said that their servers that the FBI seized were encrypted.
We already know what happened to the fiat:

https://www.okpay.com/en/company/news/mayzus-official-statement-in-connection-with-btc-e-closure/

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I can't seem to find much regarding this event, but judging on the Russian lettering, it's not something we're going to get much coverage of. They are (or were) either closely connected to BTC-E (perhaps a mod or support staff), or they are 'victims' desperately looking to gain back access to their funds. I personally hint at the latter mentioned. If everything goes according to plan, it will take 2-3 days at most before we are going to see them relaunch. I hope we'll be able to withdraw BTC and other crypto funds without any verification at the early stage. I am not going to waste a single second in leaving my funds there for longer than needed. The only thing I will be patiently waiting for, is how the market rate of the tokens will develop itself.

I think it was "Blockchain: New Russian Oil" Conference in Kazan - Tatarstan.

http://invest.tatarstan.ru/events/?event=9288

And Sberbank took part in the conference.

Did anyone else get an email purportedly from BTC-e this morning? I did, and it doesn't make any sense. I donno if it's a scam by someone who got a hold of my BTC-e account info or what...

At the moment 55% of funds are available, 45% of funds will be converted into
tokens, which we will redeem from you. Tokens can be bought and sold on our
stock exchange. On September 14 we will start making money transfers to your
wallets. Before September 5, you must fill out a form that you can download from
the attachement, and send it to btce@<my email domain>
Passphrase: *btc-e*
Thank you for your understanding, BTC-e team.

By <my email domain> I mean if for example my address was "bob@aol.com", it would be "aol.com", but it's something much more obscure than that so I don't think it could be a coincidence. And I'm quite sure BTC-e does not have an account at <my email domain>.

Attached was RefundForm.zip and inside RefundForm.doc which I have refrained from opening since this all looks incredibly sketchy.

BTC-e 30 Aug 2017 Update

Quote
The launch of the service will take place in 3 stages.

At the first stage , the old company (with which you have signed an offer contract) will prepare and transfer to the new company digital personal data of users, in full compliance with the European directives on personal data and in compliance with European legislation in this field.
Terms of transfer until 15.09.2017

In the second stage, the licensed financial investment company, assumes the task of restructuring the digital assets of the new company and registering digital data of users at home.

In the third stage, the licensed financial investment company will audit and register personal data in accordance with AML laws and KYC identification procedures.

In the future, this financial company will operate under its financial license both digital and monetary data.

In parallel with the legal issue of restructuring, users will be given the opportunity to check the integrity of the digital balance in the user's account, and users will be able to make changes in the security of the account. For chat and support, chat will be available.

For these purposes, the service will be launched on the old domain (btc-e.nz). You will be able to log in and check your balance before recounting.
Term before 02.09.2017

Since there is a risk of third-party access to account accounts and to protect users' digital balances, it is highly recommended that you update the security and identification settings. Instructions for these actions will be duplicated by a separate news item.

The helpdesk system will be operated by the licensed financial company after the start of the digital data transfer procedure. After starting the service from the financial company and in case you have difficulties with entering the account or there are inaccuracies in the balance, you can get help and answers through the ticket system.

The following information update will be released on 01/09/2017

If you have any questions we are ready to answer them.

How will the balances be recalculated?
This information will be published in the next updates.

What is the domain for the new service and what is the financial company?
This information will be published before September 15, 2017

1) Feds take fiat  from BTC-e
2) Crypto holder have to bail out fiat holders yet again through socialised loss

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding re "fiat holders"
When we traded coin for fiat - It didnt automagically instantly convert itself into USD and pay itself into the bank. The fiat that the feds took obviously wasnt the fiat that so called fiat holders were holding.
Basically for these purposes while we do trades for fiat it could equally well be treated as another coin.

I see.

I concur. The above was all the confirmation I needed. That doesn't make any sense that they're asking each person to send the form to a different address on their own domain. I've got a couple suspicious bitcoins related emails in the past, so this isn't a huge shock. Still not sure how they got my address, but whatever, hopefully they don't actually have anything on my actual BTC-e account and this was just semi-targeted phishing.

So yeah, anyway if anyone else got that, DO NOT OPEN IT.
