Chodpapa's given me enough info to do roughly the same thing if I build up enough historical data... that is very generous in my mind. He could just as well be sitting back manipulating everyone.

Yes, I agree he has been generous.

Historical data:

Everyone is generous in this thread. I plan to buy high and sell low for all of you.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

would anyone mind helping me on my way to do just this?  i dont want to poach or anything but i really want to learn how to start doing my own educated speculating.  if someone wants to pm me just saying theyd like to take the time to chat in IRC at a future date would make me one happy guy!

Have you tried reading the thread?  He goes into pretty high detail about his model.

That was some crazy shit, and I will admit that it plays hell with my models...

This schizophrenic episode has fucked up a lot of data.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

i'm astonished that $5.90 has that much support already.

this sentence has fifteen words, seventy-four letters, four commas, one hyphen, and a period.

@Chodpaba
Can you explain the difference between OBV and PVT?

Thanks.  Is there any particular reason you chose OBV over PVT for scaling?  It seems like PVT is just a smoother view of the same data.

Thanks.  Is there any particular reason you chose OBV over PVT for scaling?  It seems like PVT is just a smoother view of the same data.

PVT is useful for spotting divergence in price and volume, so if you see price climbing and PVT staying flat you can cry "bullshit".

I'm not really doing that, all I am interested in is looking at a delta of volume over a sample time period that is either going up or going down to get an idea of average daily volume, it doesn't even matter what that number is, for the purposes of the chart it is just 'average daily volume'. The method is a lot more like how OBV is calculated so I call it OBV. The chart isn't in dollars, it isn't in days—it is just average volume days.

Also, it is not intended to be precisely quantitative, which I don't think would be meaningful to do given the wide range of volume fluctuations from day to day. I don't trade on this chart, and I pity the fool who does, but I do use it as a sanity check on the order book.

Volume is definitely unpredictable in this market.  I would agree that trading on support/resistance alone can be dangerous.

I think I've finally figured out what's going on here. Bitcoin is going up. In USD it follows normal patterns. In Canadian Dollars, you just double them and add 30, but then convert that in a cancellation wave. In Australia, the patterns are upside down, so you need to be contrarian. Every odd Saturday, the pattern changes, but Bitcoin still continues to go up. Mostly I'll just buy and hold, but sometimes I'll just hold.

It would be kinda cool to see an animation of the charts through time.  Not cool enough for me to actually do it though Smiley  One can sort of obtain the effect by sliding on the forum page.  Sort of like drawing a stick-man on multiple pages of a book...back in the old days when books were common.

It would not be that hard to do, but I haven't been consistent in gathering the snapshots, so it would be a mess. Maybe I will do that one day if I see that there is a series of fairly consistently collected snapshots.
The formula is posted publicly though, so is it not possible to recurse through the historical data and regenerate the graphs?

It is actually fairly calculation intensive. And the way I have things set up it would be a semi-manual process... I just don't feel like doing it.

do you have valid timestamps on the pics? If so it could be made to not be such a mess... care to share a tgz or something that preserves "datetime created"?

I am finding this concept very useful.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confidence_interval

As long as this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceteris_paribus is not being ignored.

Bitcoins are earned, not traded! If you plan on hoarding BTC, you're on my target list. (And yes, it is possible to swim in BTC.)

Don't give me that Bull... I'm one of those honey eating Bears that the bees hope to never meet again... Viva la BTC!!!
