You should never ever go for any coin which is just new born and is having very limited number of investors because there are many cases of such altcoins that have put investors in losses without giving them what they invested.

The method you apply is not a bad method, at least you do not invest in low volume coins. The biggest mistake I make is to rely on low volume coins. There are promising coins, but a lot of research is needed.
