There's a lot of arm waving and running around in circles in this thread.  It's only the stats dammit.  We're getting live-time updates.  There's only one other pool I can think of that has such open reporting of what's going on, and that's BTCGuild.

What i really see - on WK pool accumulated more than 2 000 000$ our rewards, statistics still don't work, time to repair still don't introduced, it's facts. Some people says - he's a great man and don't steal your money, sorry i don't know him, i don't know this people but i know about HYIP, i know about pools who steal money !

LOL. Newbie with 14 posts. Please show us PROOF that WK has ever stolen your BTC. Can't you? Ohh.

I've been mining on this pool since my ASICs arrived (for months) and I've always got my payments. So calm down and keep mining. Or chose another pool.

Ok, ok i know my BTC balance on his pool, you pay it to me if i right ? 0.1 BTC... About situation - in 100500 HYIPs i see situations like there, some people after HYIP stop paying still wrote "Great HYIP", "Don't worry", "Honest admin", "Situation under control" but NO ONE HYIP START PAY AGAIN !!!

Meh, for what its worth I trust wizkid057. He's been with the pool for a long time, and a pool like Eligius doesn't get to where it is after such a long time by being dodgy. Apart from that, he has always been around in the irc channel and knows what hes talking about.

From the discussion there, what was evident was that the initial attack that caused the issue was specifically targeted at a vulnerability in the Eligius software. It was no ordinary attack by some script kiddie with a botnet, it was meant to cause trouble with lasting damage. Where the delays have come from is that the pool is quite large, and the backlog takes time to process. Last time this happened, the pool was a LOT smaller, so it took less time.

Cut him some slack people!

Probably should put something here.... Maybe an LTC address?

ELIGIUS MOST GOOD POOL.

LOVE IT!!!

I came to Eligius after 50BTC went down. Before I went to 50BTC it was easy enough for me to mine solo, then I did a ton of pool hopping, then I finally settled. I used to like 50BTC because of the payout feature - and because in my experiments they paid the most for my hashing power.
After 50BTC went down I was "pooless" and back to pool hopping, research, 500 browser windows open and blogs and emails to friends, until something popped out: Right at the top of Getting Started page on Eligius:
"Saint Eligius (also Eloy or Loye) (French: Éloi) (c. 588 – 1 December 660) is the patron saint of goldsmiths, other metalworkers, and coin collectors."
I figured, hey - a pool with a patron saint for a name, SOLD!!

Anyway, soon I find out that I make more money on Eligius than any other pool I tried. That's not calculations, numbers and comparing systems, that's letting my miners do their thing and seeing income coming in. To be honest with you, I must have read in my research that it was a zero fee pool, but that's not what attracted me. Truth is that I'm only noticing this now on the thread, so it's kinda gravy!

I'd be happy to pay a percentage, and I'm gonna. Under configurable options you have the choice to donate whatever you like. WK deserves it!

Yeah, so that's my story, so yeah.

"pooless?" I think you might mean "poolless" Smiley

We all are, it's only one n33b that isn't. Who you all insist on f33ding.

edit: wow we seem to be getting some great luck too, can't wait to get my 0.001 btc Cheesy

Looks like the 128 and 256 second stats came back, so something is working and/or in progress of being fixed.

Great work Wz.

Just an anecdote of "trust" here;
I moved from BTCGuild to Eligius DURING the db problems.....I'm not worried

Just a thought WK....what % pool fee would you have to charge to make it your "full time job"?
I suspect the vast majority of significant miners would stay even if you did charge a fee.....

I'm down with this idea. So far, in my limited experience, Eligius has been the easiest to use AND the most profitable. Granted, that is very limited experience, but still...

I guess I just like Whizkid's style. I'd pay a fee.

You can voluntarily pay whatever fee you would like. If you go to your settings page you can change the donation percentages. Personally I donate .25% of all my earning back to the pool .10 Pool Hosting, .10 Pool Management, .05 Stats dev. I personally feel that mining for free on a pool is stealing from the operators time and monetary resources which is why I voluntarily pay a small fee.

I agree, so I pay 1.2% voluntarily because I really appreciate the level of the experience on Eligius. And I just sent an extra BTC tip to the stats address because of how much work it must have been to deal with the recent issues. If you've been paying zero fees and you appreciate the level of support and service on the pool, now is the time to bump up your contribution.

But I do think it's  fair question to wonder why anyone would spend tens of thousands of their own money, and 12 hour days to support something for free.

I just want to briefly address this comment.

As for money, the data center we are hosted at I've worked with for years.  They're very helpful.  Most of the hardware we have is donated, however I have been able to score some upgrades and additional items from donations and such and by sweet talking the data center owner. There are actually a few techs there who have their own mining hardware mining on Eligius from inside the same data center. (How's that for low latency?)  So, we have a good deal of support from various aspects of the community, and it is much appreciated.

When I contacted the data center this afternoon and was going over the issue they were all for getting it resolved and went to work seeing what they could come up with to help without breaking the bank.  Turns out we were able to get a very nice upgrade to the main database server for pennies on the dollar.

I put in my personal time and effort because I believe Eligius is successful, I believe it is the best mining pool, and I believe a legitimate and transparent no-fee pool needs to exist for miners to use to lower their variance without giving up huge amounts of their earnings to do so in pool fees.  I personally want such a service to exist, and I use Eligius myself with my own hardware.

Hopefully this helps.  Thank you everyone for your support.

WK, do you normally operate this pool by yourself? If so, kudos to you and the work you're doing. You need to be skilled in a lot of different areas to run an operation like this and I know the pain you're going through.

The only thing I have to say to anyone who wishes to question credibility of the pool, is that I started mining for perhaps 2-3 weeks with Eligius early December and then hopped around to a few different pools to get a comparison. I had withdrawn all my bitcoins at Eligius and had stopped mining for around 2 weeks when I discovered that I curiously had an additional pay out from Eligius, worth about half a day's mining at the time. I don't know why I received this additional pay out, but I had seen the pool experience various issues during the time I mined there, and I knew that some manual reconciliation was occasionally required after these problems occurred. No doubt this additional payout was part of a manual reconciliation.

So even though the problems have not been completely resolved yet, I'm still happy to mine at Eligius because I trust what I have seen with my own eyes.

Thanks for all the good work WK.

Edit:
And the second I post the pool comes back up.
