This might help?, Sounds like you might have downloaded web page and not the script?

I am a Linux Newbie, is there an issue with wget vs curl for downloading things?

Current Documentation:

Hello Togo.
i tried CURL but not solve my issue. Anyone try wget  success yet ?

Ok so I think I found the issue:
https://github.com/biblepay/biblepay/blob/master/contrib/masternode-install.sh
is a webpage

it should be:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/biblepay/biblepay/master/contrib/masternode-install.sh

Haha, sorry!, updated the reddit post

Exactly, you need to download the actual script, not the GitHub webpage that hosts the script file.

Thanks Togo for pointing out and fixing the docs.

Let's say someone posts a prayer in the wallet and the prayer is either answered or is no longer relevant due to new circumstances.

How does the poster remove their prayer?

Prayers go out of scope in 7 days automatically.  They currently cannot remove the prayer.

Anyone know if the mandatory update to 1.1.5.7/9 removed the rosetta@home requirement, meaning that you can research on WCG only and still receive rewards?

"Starting in the next mandatory release [v1.1.5.7] we actually do allow you to have WCG RAC only - and be missing in RAH." -Rob
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2388064.msg45995139#msg45995139

Has anyone tried it out?

Let us know if it doesn't work-

These 3 active users have massive WCGRac and very little (but some) Rosetta RAC:
cpid                                                   name   rosettarac   wcgrac   magnitude
ab559f2ce36aab854df58605aa08b50c   001ar   67           231258   22.367
b3ea521e700e89e4fbe0353088cf3f7b   PC           11           158461   15.323
7517487f5568941cb691fd36ff2224d1   MuadDib   79           111168   10.757

So we know that you can crunch one rosetta task and pause rosetta, and ramp up WCG at the very least.

Theymos 4th Rejection for Bitcointalk Banner Ad

"Still no. I'd probably only be comfortable with BiblePay if a lot more info, news, and third-party reviews of your practices come out. As-is, I'm not particularly convinced by your responses to my previous concerns (though admittedly I don't have time to spend more than a few minutes looking at it), and I see a lot of red flags. If I was convinced that BiblePay was like "Litecoin with a bible theme and a donation thing", then I'd probably allow it."
Reference: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5044744.msg47033776#msg47033776

Bitcointalk Investigation:
"Topic: BiblePay (BBP) - Are BiblePay's Charity Donations Legitimate?  (Read 246 times)"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030640

====

Arghhh, what else can we do?

I can try to pay Theymos for his time?
Hire an auditor? Hire a private investigator? LOL
Videotape ourselves calling Compassion?

If Compassion mentioned us publically that would be cool
(I dont know how to show proof of an email, and also my screenshot of the email was edited to take out Lukes last name)
I can poke Jim on twitter, its on my TODO list
But I need an article first, that explains how much we have donated to them, anyone want to create it?

Should we start some sort of bounty campaign?
If you can prove our donations were illegitimate we will pay X Bitcoin.
If you videotape yourself calling compassion, we will pay X BBP.

Thank you for working on the report Rob, I wont give up!

That's OK, we'll convince everyone provably, eventually, because the Truth will stand.  We have the effects of 329 real orphans that we helped for most of 2018, their pictures, their expense records, their inbound letters on a recurring basis, etc.  You can't falsify hundreds of inbound childrens letters written to BiblePay and kept in our SAN.

Regarding the next step, imho personally I would be more convinced by a signed end of year statement from Compassion than a CPA audit.  Im not against a CPA audit, but our current budget doesnt allow for spending a couple grand on something that could be falsified by some firm.  The other reason I like the end of year statement is it consolidates the total to a point in time - meaning that we have integrity from day zero up to that date - meaning that our expenses were provable for a very large time span.  In addition, an end of year statement can be confirmed by allowing one to call the 800 # and confirm the authenticity of the statement.  One from compassion would take care of something like 90% of our expenses, and that would add imo a lot of additional credibility.

So Ill go ahead and submit a request for compassion to create an end of year statement - maybe for all of 2018, or for 9-9 depending on how their calendar years work, Ill check into that now.  Thanks for trying.

Regarding the pandering comment, no lets not be swayed by that.  We are an upstanding untarnished organization with 100% accuracy.  I named the 'exec theymos' report out of respect and honor for Theymos's interrogation, not to supplicate his approval.  The name of the report goes down in history to honor him and I think eventually he will realize how an honest and persistent organization succeeds.  Of course if he asks to not be associated with us, we can change it Smiley.  It was meant to be a compliment to his additional stringent requirements.

What I took from his message is BBP needs a lot more third-party reviews and news, that's not coming from within BBP. You can hire auditors or PIs, but that's BBP justifying BBP. I believe that if there was more information coming from OUTSIDE, it would be a big help. The coin needs reputation, not justification.

I like it, How do we get more reputation?

Did you seriously write --BiblePay added new Charity Report Command: "exec theymos". That's just silly, unprofessional and pandering.

I think your looking for something that isn't there

Reputation is a funny thing, because it has to form naturally from outside. It can't be forced or created from the inside.

Let's say I'm starting a business, and I meet a potential partner. I can't just take his or her word for their competence, I have to ask around. This word-of-mouth is very important to getting an accurate opinion of a person or project. I would say in terms of BBP, making it more newb friendly (it's amazing how complicated the setup can get even compared to grc), and providing more use case, to bring in more new folks and let the reputation form naturally.. If this is just an excuse to sponsor orphans or boinc crunch, then what is the real use case? Why would someone use BBP or buy it (and don't get me started on masternodes)? If I went down the my local church and talked about the project, what use case would I present to a group that's already involved in charity? People need to hear about the project from folks other than the ones heavily involved in the project.

I do feel that attempts to create reputation always backfire. For example, I was reading https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2906738.0 that was reviewing different faith-based coins. Cool idea, but the thread became such an advertisement for BBP, that it appeared to just be straight shilling. All the subsequent posts were touting the benefits of BBP, and looked very biased to my eyes. (Only pointing out the negative aspects of the other coins and the positive ones of BBP).  It's a fine line between informating, touting and shilling. It seems like everyone is doing this with their coins though. Sad

One thing I don't understand as a newb is all the controversy surrounding the coin. Why is there so much issue with proving the charity work, genesis block, etc. Is it because some people are trying to poke at BBP to show it's not moral? It seems like these concerns should have been put to rest already somehow. And my opinion is that it's taking a lot of energy dealing with those doesn't help the reputation. If there's some definitive information people are looking for to reassure them, by all means provide it, and then let's move on. I saw some anti-BBP posts that were clearly trolling and do those even need addressing? Is it because the coin needs defending, or the religion? Just a thought.

As far as looking for something that's not there, it wouldn't be the first time I've done that, and I appreciate the explanation from Bible_pay above. Thanks for reading my rant. I do think about this project and what it can help. Mostly, I'd like to see a lot more volume in trade, which again is something that can't be manufactured. Sure, lets' get to $.01 per BBP, but how? Just saying boots-on-ground doesn't give me direction. A lot of people will have to buy the coin to get to a penny, and besides masternodes or staking, why would they? It's just an innocent question.

Unbanked payment missing again.

How is daily superblock time doing? Still hanging in there around 24 hours per day? Noticed its been drifting past closer to 25 hours between daily superblock to superblock.

Same on unbanked, worked for 3 days then missed yesterdays again.

Missed payment again for unbanked. I take it there's no way to see what masternode version someone is on...

from a miner's perspective looks like we picked up a few more 1.1.3.8's

{
  "Version": "Popularity,Percent %",
  "1.1.3.8": "10; 4.88%",
  "1.1.4.4": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.6": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.7": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.8": "3; 1.46%",
  "1.1.4.9": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.5.4": "4; 1.95%",
  "1.1.5.5": "3; 1.46%",
  "1.1.5.6": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.5.7": "20; 9.76%",
  "1.1.5.8": "3; 1.46%",
  "1.1.5.9": "157; 76.58%"
}

But overall most are 5.7 or greater.

I missed the unbanked yesterday as well.

Mission is to reach 1 BBP = $0.01 USD by Christmas of Year 2020

Ironic that you reference USD fiat as the target for a cryptocurrency.

So Ill go ahead and submit a request for compassion to create an end of year statement - maybe for all of 2018, or for 9-9 depending on how their calendar years work, Ill check into that now.  Thanks for trying.

Would BiblePay want to be listed publicly as a contributor to Compassion.com on their tax return? I see only amounts (no names), but that kind of disclosure and dollar amount could increase transparency and "trustability" from people like theymos.

https://www.compassion.com/multimedia/2016-2017-form-990-compassion-international.pdf

Reputation is a funny thing, because it has to form naturally from outside. It can't be forced or created from the inside.

Forwarding God's kingdom should always be the main goal.

Some people misunderstand that vulnerability is a sign of strength. It takes courage to expose your weaknesses. You earn a lot more street cred by offering a balance view of BiblePay -- and from there you make changes to advance the project. BiblePay offers an alternative to wasteful use of electricity with Proof of Work. That's why I joined for the ASIC resistance, CPU mining only, and environmental/mindful use of resources.

Quote
Genesis 1:28 English Standard Version (ESV)
28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

And then you have the charity angle. I think more non-technical people can be attracted by marketing managed masternodes where the payout goes to one of the supported charities. Mintnodes was an ideal setup for this, but they stopped working with BiblePay so the bar to participate is again 1.55M BBP. I suggested a Prayer Wall where we could reply to Prayer Requests, but no response on that. Participation can come in many forms, praying for others forwards God's kingdom and attracts yet another group that will install the wallet.

Just talking out loud,

Does the "exec totalrac" command work if a cruncher hasnt linked/associated their BOINC account yet?

I ran it on my wallet that isn't associated and it doesnt work.

But in order to link a BOINC account to a BiblePay Wallet you need BiblePay coins?

So they would have to buy a small amount to link/associate BOINC first,
and then run exec totalrac and then figure out how much more they need to buy for staking and then buy more?

Hmmm, so ideally then, we do want them to join Team BiblePay and get the Faucet reward,
so they can start with funds for the BOINC Association, So they can run exec totalrac?

The CPID Burn is about 1.001 BBP? Is there a way we can have a faucet that gives new users 2 BBP?
I assume most all of these crunchers will want to stick to their teams and cant do the faucet?

Would we want some sort of Web Calculator for Staking? Where user enters in RAC manually?
Could even pull in real time BBP price to give a fiat value
1. Exec totalrac does require the 'exec associate' to be complete first.  So yes, we should tell them the '1 bbp per rac' figure for PR, and tell them 'exec totalrac' can be used in daily operations.
2. The exec associate does require the 1 bbp.
3.  I wouldnt recommend saying Join team BBP and pull coins and switch - its too unprofessional (and would probably lead me to shutting off the faucet after abuse).
4. We could probably add a second faucet to pool.biblepay.org for Non-biblepay-team new users.  To award more like 50 bbp to users from that path.  ETA?  I have to schedule it in.  I realize its pretty high priority as its part of this new campaign.
5.  Yeah, the web calc sounds good.  Maybe Lich can do that.
Ok, for #4 :  I added a second 'pool.biblepay.org' faucet for Non-BiblePay researchers.  It pays 2 bbp.  Its live.

Thank you for the 2nd Faucet Rob!

Added the 2nd Faucet information to biblepay.org and to the mining guide on biblepay-central.org Smiley

Hi All

We are behind Block 77000 and my Problem remains the same.

Rosetta PODC works.
Still my wcg Rac does not Appear in my Biblepay Wallet. (1.1.5.9)
E-Mail in wcg is the same as for Rosetta.
CPID in wcg is not the same as in Rosetta
At the Pool, in the Superblock view my WCG Rac is 0.

What can I do too make my wcg "points" count in biblepay?

I believe your problem is entirely that your WCG CPID is not matching RAHs, so lets try to get that working for now.

Please install BOINC gui on one of your machines crunching Rosetta.

From that machine, detach WCG.
Ensure RAH is crunching tasks actively.
Then re-attach WCG.

Then click Update on WCG.

Usually after this, within 24 hours, WCG will honor and update its CPID to match your RAH cpid.

Yeesss. It Works.

Thank You

So just rehashing the steps real quick for new cruncher:

0. Overview - Lightly Explain BiblePay, PODC, Staking

1. Download/Install Wallet

2. Get coins from Non-BiblePay Team Faucet (Enter CPID and Address, go over how to generate an address, how to find CPID)
QUESTION: Will the coins have to wait 6 confirmations before they can be used for Associating BOINC account to the wallet?

3. DC Tab, Associate (Enter email and password of research account)
QUESTION: Does this only support Rosetta@home? Can they enter in WCG credentials?
Notes: http://wiki.biblepay.org/Distributed_Computing_2#PART_C._Link_BOINC_Account_to_BiblePay

4. Run exec totalrac command, figure out how many coins you need for staking
4a. Profitability equation, BBP Fiat Value CoinMarketCap

5. Buy coins (Buy Bitcoin [Create account, Use CC or Bank], Buy BiblePay [Create account, Send Bitcoin, Explain Limit Orders?])

6. Transfer coins to Wallet for Staking, Keep Wallet on 24/7, Get paid every day, exec getboincinfo

Misc: encryption, backups

We create one address for Business Objects, in case the user decides to create a business object (for example, if you save your contact record with e-mail address on it).
This is so we can use your addresses public key as the primary key of that record (that allows you to delete a record later by your key, for GDPR compliance).

This is how one user sent BBP to another via e-mail address, btw.

On #2, They only have to wait 2 confirms, then the balance will be available to spend on the DC Txn.

On #3, The simple answer is:  Yes, they must be RAH credentials.  If they do not have RAH credentials they can click the "Create RAH Account" button and get started in one click.
The extended answer is :  Someone needs to test 0 RAC on RAH, 100% rac on WCG.  I believe in our current state, you just need a RAH account (from that create rah account button above) but not really RAH rac.  The user also must verify the CPID matches on both RAH & WCG.

Hello everyone,

I have been running the BiblePay wallet 24/7 for 12 days now and I have been getting my regular once a day PODC payment. Today however, for the first time, I got some coins with the label "Mined" in my transactions. What is this? Have I been mining in the same time? Where do these coins come from?

I have been running the BiblePay wallet 24/7 for 12 days now and I have been getting my regular once a day PODC payment. Today however, for the first time, I got some coins with the label "Mined" in my transactions. What is this? Have I been mining in the same time? Where do these coins come from?

I think BiblePay Wallet by default runs 1 miner thread for the Proof of BibleHash (POBH) [Proof of Work] algorithm,
I think it runs for 250ms and then sleeps for 250ms and repeats,
Sounds like you solo mined a block! congrats!

"In order for automatic PODC Updates to work, you must leave your controller wallet (with DC association), mining with a genproclimit=1 or higher, and your HPS in getmininginfo should be above zero"
