Really?  Is no one questioning why it's suddenly ok to yank half of the components off of the H boards?  Do we need to worry that our old H boards are going to spontaneously combust and burn our houses down?

Russian design.  Probably works better with only 1/2 the parts in place...

Nice one -Redacted- Smiley

Bitfury is a Russian product, and coming to this thread and saying that Russian things work better with only 1/2 the parts in place... Well if it is funny to you, it is not to me.

Working with only 1/2 the parts and maybe better just tells me that russian products are built to work no matter how and i can only praise the design and how russian build their stuff. They are not very sensitive products and they seem to be very robust working in all conditions.

You know, if you take the bypass caps off, there is isn't a whole lot left on the board except the chips and the voltage regulator.  And over in the tuning thread, someone proved that you could even remove some of the chips with a power grinder, and the board would still work...

Pay no attention to my kid sister Rachael Svetlana - at least until she gives me back my gmail account.  I don't care how many degrees she has from Lomonosov.

Don't make me have to catch a flight to Moscow and smack you one when I get there.  Get your own email account and give mine back or I'll start posting some of your embarrassing baby pictures online.   Brat.

Hi Punin,

Would it be possible to get a data sheet with the thermal specs for the bitfury chip? Thanks
Package thermal resistance Tj-Tpad is 2°K/W. Chips have been tested to run at extreme temperatures. One user used a soldering iron to heat the chip to the point it desoldered. Hashing stopped only when chip started floating on solder and shortcircuited.

And a sense of humor is a sorely lacking in many posters, too.  About 1/2 of them act like they've had it surgically removed at some time in the past...

I assume the caps were there to smooth out any spikes in power. Would this mean the boards would be less "protected" from this?

Why in the world would a bypass cap heat up like that - short of there being an awful lot of AC present?  Leaky?  Way over-voltage?  Just plain-old wrong part placed?  Is there suddenly a world-wide shortage of EE's such that nobody with the required expertise can look to see what's going on?

+1
also can users safely remove capacitors by themselfs?

He said they did this to make sure they get everyone's orders out on time.

From the sound of things they're not actually out of stock as we can order more H-Boards for immediate delivery "soon".

H-card availability
As some of you have noticed, we closed the october sales. We did this so that we would be able to deliver everything as promised. We will however reopen H-card sales, after we're done shipping so you can top-up your empty slots. They will be available for immediate delivery.

Order #283 recieved.

Some fast observations:
R02F looks different and shows a resistance of ~1.8k
unmodded boards seem to produce 29-32Ghs
Pencilmodding to 1.7k looks to be stable with ~35.5Ghs (fans, no heatsinks).

Bitcoin trinkets now on my online store: btc trinkets.com <- Bitcoin Tiepins, cufflinks, lapel pins, keychains, card holders and challenge coins.
