guys how do I compile under linux? When I try make makefile.unix I get "No targets specified and no makefile found."
There are a few makefiles. You need to select the correct one with -f. make -f makefile.unix Of course you'll need all the required dependences. Do me, do me... I get alert.cpp:6:53: fatal error: boost/algorithm/string/classification.hpp: No such file or directory

I'm seeing an issue with primecoind where every call to getblock returns: error: {"code":-5,"message":"Block not found"} This is on a system that has been running a full node successfully for multiple weeks, continuously. Other coin daemons have been and continue to run correctly. I have cleared all binary and source files and recompiled from the latest master on github. Server has obviously been bounced, behavior persists through multiple reboots. These block not found errors are occurring for blocks of a height less than the current block count listed by getinfo. Is anyone else seeing a similar issue at the moment? Interestingly, getinfo does not throw an error, but all getblock calls do. root@blockchainer ~ ∴ primecoind getinfo { "version" : "v0.1.2xpm-91-gb7b034f-beta", "protocolversion" : 70001, "walletversion" : 60000, "balance" : 0.00000000, "blocks" : 237209, "moneysupply" : 2811340.36019949, "timeoffset" : -1, "connections" : 6, "proxy" : "", "testnet" : false, "keypoololdest" : 1403535164, "keypoolsize" : 101, "paytxfee" : 0.00000000, "errors" : "" } edit: resolved. I'm not sure what the root cause was here but once the blockchain caught up to the current best height getblock calls began functioning properly again. I'll edit again if this issue recurs and I am able to track down the issue.

Good to hear that the issue is solved. I think your wallet wasn't done synchronizing with the network. Your getinfo output showed that you only had 237209 blocks while currently the network is at 601597 blocks.

So GPU mining didn't manage to push the diff above 11. The use of GPU is perhaps just one relatively minor step as Moore's Law takes effect. Has anyone calculated how rare 11-chains are compared with 10-chains? 10 times? 30 times? How about 12-chains compared with 11-? 13 and 12 ? I would like to know if my assumption (10 times) is far off in calculating XPM money supply cap based on Moore's Law.

I did a quick benchmark with regards to the difficulty ratio between chain lengths. I used the CPU miner in my Primecoin High Performance wallet (latest HP14 release). It allows targeting different chain lengths using the -sievetargetlength parameter. Target Chains/day Difficulty ratio compared to previous (how many times harder) 7 1493 8 91.6 16.3 9 4.05 22.6 10 0.155 26.1 11 0.00541 28.7 12 0.000170 31.8 13 0.00000502 33.9 So 11-chains should be about 28.7 times harder to find than 10-chains. So that number is definitely closer to 30 rather than 10. Sunny King originally assumed that the ratio would be about 32. Also note that the ratio keeps growing as the chain length increases. I also compared these numbers to some earlier benchmarks. It seems that the ratios are smaller with more optimized code. So my guess is that for GPU miners the ratios may be slightly smaller. (Anyone want to confirm that?) My network charts page at http://xpm.muuttuja.org/charts/ tries to estimate the total network computation power in terms of chains per minute. It shows that chains/min peaked at 20 chains/min on May 13th, which is definitely not enough to push difficulty above 11. Last December we actually needed about 40 chains/min to go above 10. Currently the network is mining at about 8.5 chains/min, which is equivalent to about 1500 GPUs mining at 8.2 chains/day.

I have used up to hp11 and rdb's to mine until diff passed ~10.3. I found that the ratio is close to 10 from diff=7 to 8, and from 8 to 9. Since the ratio is highly miner dependent (some may even tune the miner to find more shorter chains to cheat pools), maybe it is best to get the chain length from all blocks for each target length, and calculate the overall ratio for that target length. Then we can find out how the GPU miners changed the ratio. I'd be interested to see a chart of such ratio as a function of target length. Anyway I have calculated money supply cap using ratio=30 here. According to it 5 years after release XPM diff won't reach 14, and the total supply is going to be ~55 Millions XPM.

Right, I think I should clarify that pooled mining is different. In pooled mining you're always targeting the network difficulty but you're allowed to submit shorter chains to the pool. The ratios between lengths 7, 8, 9 and 10 should always be approximately 10 (at least for CPU miners). That's because each number has nearly the same probability of being prime after it's being sieved. Since the ratio is 10, the probability is about 0.1. However, you can find a lot more 7-chains if you change the sieve parameters. This is what I did in my previous post. That's why the ratios are more than 10. Anyway I have calculated money supply cap using ratio=30 here. According to it 5 years after release XPM diff won't reach 14, and the total supply is going to be ~55 Millions XPM. I haven't checked the numbers, but the eventual total supply of 55 million sounds reasonable. Primecoin is definitely intended to sustain a healthy mining market, since only about 11% of that has been mined in the first year.

Can I say XPM hash rate is of 1500 GPU? Does it equal to 1500 R280X? 1500X500K=750M hash rate of LTC?

Ypool is down again ....... For last 24h - for second time ........ Does not sound serious why the fee is 3% - they put "tremendous efforts to keep the pool in good conditions"* !!! * "tremendous" or similar wording (pool is not available to check it) is used under FAQ explaining why the XPM pool is with 3% fee!

Hi there, We have already successfully added Litecoin and we are now interested in adding Primecoin support to Hive. If you guys as a community are interested, can you direct us to some stable service which features a Blockchain.info-style API that we can build the integration around? Our newest version is targeted at mobile, and an iOS version is under development. For those that like to argue and bicker, there is an ongoing discussion about which tokens we should be prioritizing and adding here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=637227.0;allThanks!

Hivewallet: You might try contacting https://coinplorer.com at contact@coinplorer.uservoice.com. They run the most feature-rich block explorer for Primecoin that I'm aware of, although I don't know that they provide an API. You might be able to work with them to get the interface you need. If that isn't possible then the community might be able to throw together a server that can handle the API calls you need. I moderate the Primecoin subreddit and would be willing to help promote a search on that forum for a developer willing to put together such an interface. You would also be well served looking around on ppcointalk.org, which serves as the main forum for discussion of both Primecoin and Peercoin.
