Can I mine Sexcoin with OS X 10.9 (MacBook Air, Intel HD Graphics 4000)?
First: it is generally recommended to never use any laptop for mining purposes. They tend to overheat. Having said that, technically speaking, yes of course you can. Would it be worth it? I dunno. The i5 core in the Macbook air would probably hash faster than the HD4000. But no way to know until you try. Here's something that might help. I've just set up an SXC profitability calculator. It's still in beta, the difficulty is automatically kept up to date but the SXC/$ is not. For lack of anything else, it's currently the default page on my site: http://www.outhashed.comEdit: it now auto-updates the SXC/USD conversion rate. It multiplies the last LTC/SXC trade value from cryptsy with the average LTC/USD trade value from BTC-e

By the way.. I've taken over the 100 SXC give away thread.. Seeing as most members have already claimed their free SXC, and I still have 223 payouts to go, I've tweaked the rules.. If you have the NEW sexcoin logo as your Avatar pic, you can claim 100 SXC DAILY !!!!Heres the thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=281109.0

Ok...yes, that's a little off the chain. I'm confused too. Have you updated to my p2pool version yet? I'm hashing away on it at ~4MH/s, with my single other user. No issues here. Let me know when you're online, we can work on it together

Doing the difficulty trick in the OP just causes the pool to constantly request a reset, otherwise the difficulty keeps staying around 1 and spamming me. I just find it so odd that the Lavapit pool works for me, but the P2pool is wonky as all hell. X_x

Give it more than 10 minutes. It should adjust the difficulty based on your hashrate. I'd say give it at least 30 minutes or more. If it doesn't adjust your difficulty by then, please let me know.

The LavaPit is a Completely different animal. Stratum/Pushpool/PGmmcFE/Data Center/Battery-Generator backup/Monitored/Massive bandwidth....The Pro Version. P2Pool was thrown up so we had a pool back when the coin was starving and nobody had anything. We've left it up because people like it, it supports vardiff, it works for what it is and I've grown kind of fond of it. Wedge has put some serious work into his instance (The "Pro Version" of P2Pool). If you are experiencing serious issues with my P2Pool, I would suggest trying Wedges and see if it works better. I'm almost certain my instance is quite sensitive to network latency. Also, I'm currently working on getting Stratum-Vardiff working on the Lavapit. Its probably 3-4 weeks out, but its in the works. The Client is my main focus right now.

I'm almost certain my instance is quite sensitive to network latency. I just made a change on my instance to help reduce rejected/invalid shares. I increased the share_period from 10 seconds to 15 seconds. This should help reduce rejects, but it will also increase the difficulty per share. Currently testing to see how well that works out, it's only been set that way for a couple hours, too soon to tell. But so far it looks like there is an improvement. My big rigs aren't tuned well, so they're still getting >10% rejects. But my main pc which is tuned well, running a single 7970 has 1500 Accepted shares and 7 Rejects, that's a pretty good ratio!

I was talking to Wegde about a promo for his pool, seperate from the Zombie Bonus, but maybe it'd be best just payout the bonus for both pools, so people can decide which one without worrying about losing out ... What do you all think.. ?
P.S.. Just saw the price of SXC on Cryptsy ... Looks like it's going for a run !!!

That explains why I couldn't connect earlier. Yeah, that, and the usual issues with the hosting provider. They upgraded their network last week, and are now going through teething issues it would seem. But they're getting there. Starting to see a return of the orphans, though...
Yeah, the change I made is good for reducing DOA's. And it looks like it has done that, there's been 0 so far. But orphans are caused completely differently, I'm not sure yet what to do about them. However, I've noticed that every time I restart, there is always a bunch of them in the first 60 seconds, then thy go back to normal. So I think it's okay, it's just that the stats are thrown off because of the initial jump in orphans. Once it runs long enough, the efficiency % will go back to normal ~100%. Usually about 24 hours to see those numbers level off.
