What kind of hashrate are you getting with the 280X with Kalroth's cgminer?
715 at stock clock rates.  That's actually just about the same as with the unmodified cgminer since the 280x already likes 2 threads.  I have my overclock script running now, which will take until tomorrow to find the best clock rate.
The 280x's (all Powercolor) settled out to 715 for GPU 0 (no idea why it's so finicky) and 740 for the rest, and that's undervolted to 1.1V.  Unspectacular, but respectable.

Weirdly, the same core clock that gives 740kh on GPUs 1 to 4 drops GPU 0 down into the 500's. It insists on the stock 1030Mhz *shrug*

To the folks who suggested Kalroth's cgminer with the xintensity feature, you have my thanks.  His version is better in pretty much every way, near as I can tell.  I have increased hash rates across the board.  And I can run my Linux desktop on top of a 7950 doing 600kh/s without it seeming lagged.

Incidentally, I have my 7950's running with xintensity 4, gpu-threads 2, and shaders 1792.  280x's the same except shaders 2048.

Oh, and with this version, I can underclock the memory on my 7950's all the way down to 900Mhz with no change in hash rate, which saves a significant amount of power according to my kill-a-watt.  The 280x's wouldn't accept anything but the default memory clock without throwing a fit, however.

Wait a minute, you are getting 600KH on a 7950 @stock? Can you please post all your settings and setup? I am barely getting 550KH @1050/1500. Thanks!

im getting 660kh with this setup

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer --scrypt -w 256 --shaders 0 --intensity 20 -v 1 -g 1 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 21712 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-memdiff 0 --gpu-powertune 20 --temp-cutoff 90 --auto-fan -o address -u username -p password

I'm using an optimized bin from the first comment on this post and I'm up now to 687 KH/s on my 7950.

My Powercolor 280x performs much better than the MSI 280x's

Getting 750KH/s undervolted to 1.081 with the core clock upped to 1080, It dislikes changing the memory speeds.

Thank-you for this. Setting rawintensity to 7168 and using 2 threads got me to just over 683KH/s on my 7950s compared to 672KH/s with I19 and 1 thread. Oddly I was then able to reduce the memory clocks down to 1250 from 1500 and maintain the same hash rate and W/U. The huge upside for me was that I used to have 4 of 60 GPUs that wouldn't overclock to the same 1125/1500 level as the others (they'd get sick and then die after a few minutes) and so I only got 635KH/s out of them, but they're now running great at 683KH/s. Weird, but whatever works!

The only downside so far is that I have 2 out of 60 GPUs that persistently hard hang after anything from 5 minutes to 3-4 hours. I've tried them at both 1125/1250 and 1125/1500 but no dice. I had to set them back to I19 and 1 thread. I'd love to get to the bottom of that so that I can just have one config for all of my cards. A man can dream, right?

The other odd thing is that occasionally the hash rate display for a specific GPU will change to something like "898.6K/531.9Kh/s" rather than a more normal "686.8K/686.7Kh/s". When it does that, only the rightmost of the numbers updates and it just drops and drops. The GPU will still be submitting accepted shares though, so it's purely a display issue.

I tried changing rawintensity in increments of 64 but there was a huge drop off in hash rate either side of 7168. Switching to 8960 dropped me into the 500s.

Been running all night at 669KH/s, so close!

I'm using 4 as XIntensity (not the normal -I) and two threads with -g
Since the 79501 got 1792 shaders, X:4 should equal 7168 threads and X:5 should equal 8960 threads.
Intensity 13 equals 8192 threads, so neither X:4 and X:5 hits it exactly.

You can use --rawintensity for even finer control, but it's hard to guess what would work though.
I'd start with 7168 and work my way up, maybe increase by 64 every time.

1st off, yesterday rocked!
But for today is something going on? I'm getting very low accepted numbers (and low rejected as well).  Have two systems going to useast, , usually pulling around 1,500 kH and middlecoin is only showing approximate 440 kH acceptance rate.  Tried pointing to uswest before leaving for work this morning but seemed just as bad so I switched back to east.

More to the point , What I cant understand is yesterday I had untold issues with getting stable hash rates, And earned 0.036 , Today I've sorted it out and I'm averaging 2.12 Mh/s, Miles higher than yesterday, And I have earned about 0.004 the whole day, Yesterday this chart said earnings at current rate 0.039 something, Now its saying I will earn 0.01 per day with 2.12 Mh/s WTF?

Using Kalroth's cgminer, I'm getting 620 to 650 on both XFX Double D 7950's and Sapphire dual-x 7950's, depending on how finicky a specific card is.  630 seems to be average with stock voltage, core clock 1055, and memory clock at stock (sapphire) or 900Mhz (XFX).

"xintensity" : "4",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"shaders" : "1792",
"gpu-fan" : "0-100",
"auto-fan" : true,
"temp-target" : "70",

Those last 3 lines are important, as the sapphire cards love to auto-throttle if they get too warm.  And my 280x's are even worse.

1) no --thread-concurrency or --worksize switches in your config?

2) the 7950 has a core stock frequency of 925Mhz (at least my Sapphire card does), so you're quite a bit overclocked there at 1055. Not sure why you're saying the KH you're getting is at "stock" clocks. Or were you referring to your 280X?

Yeah what's going on? I've got about 3.7gh going all day and I'm currently at about 0.015 btc without much unexchanged gain.

Ah OK. But he did say he's getting ~720 on stock clocks from a 280X which I find equally outlandish?

There is definitely something wrong today. I was freaking out after having switched to sgminer with precompiled BINs and now am seeing I am not the only one. Though I am not sure whether that's good news or not.

Yup, something really wrong or a really, really bad coin is being mined. Seeing good hash/low rejects but barely any increase in combined coin the last 12 hours
