Wow look at the tantrum. Why would someone keep mining on a pool where they thought they were being ripped off?? If I wasn't reliably making more than ltc mining, converted for me, with daily deposits, I'd be gone. Until those daily payouts don't show up, or there is a significant divergence from the outputs of my single coin pool rigs, I don't see it as a scam. If it was a scam, it is big enough now to pump the total btc output for a few days and be happy for a very long time.

There've been Scrypt ASIC projects going on for a good while. I haven't yet seen a gen1 Scrypt ASIC which can beat GPUs in terms of upfront $/kh/s (unless you live in a country with expensive computer hardware stores, maybe), but they presumably cost much less over the long term due to lower electricity consumption. I didn't know any shipped, yet, though many fanbox-peddlers are allegedly very close.

You wouldn't want to use a Bitcoin-designed ASIC for Scrypt though, no.

Got only half of Accepted MH/s in the last hours, but Rejected MH/s are not significant higher than usual - so that overall rate is below 60% of what it should be. Is there somebody from Europe which has the same problems today? Maybe there is already to much load on this pool?

I'm from Europe and results aren't very good here either although I would say that it's better than yesterday and the day before. But it's far from what I got a week or two ago.
Now I would certainly blame whatever is happening on the pool that isn't fixed yet, but I also think that the altcoin scene doesn't look very healthy right now...

The US server now has the new code, which doesn't disconnect on coin switches. It's bugged to have 1% extra rejects, which show up as "duplicate shares".

A lot of the alt coins have got very sick indeed recently. Whether it's the recent run up in BTC price, or something else, I don't know.

For example, I have been mining CSC as a backup for when middlecoin goes down, if I don't want to mine on the EU server. Yet, something has happened to cut the CSC/BTC exchange in half today.  Lots of other alt coins showing long slow crashes in price too.

The US server is a bit happier than it has been, but that seems to be a reflection of the coin situation. Over the last few days, there has been massive fluctuation in difficulty and value of many alts, causing lots of crazy switching from one coin to another.

I don't think the server bug is that high of a priority at the moment, because of the change in coin situation.

However, I would like to make the suggestion that H2O offers an "experimental" server. This could run the most recent test version of the pool, and people could try hashing on it, for a "real world" test of whether the fix is helping or not.

Finally, I came across something very concerning regarding middlecoin. I was testing a new Wifi connection from a local provider (as a backup to wired connecrtivity). It turns out that they block middlecoin - if you try to access the web page, you just get a message - "This site has been blocked. Reason: Contains images of child abuse, or links to child abuse/pornography". I tested access to the pool ports, and they were all blocked as well. I'm guessing that this is a false positive. However, I did call the wifi provider's tech support to ask, and they said, they simply said that they can't unblock it because of illegal material.

The problem seems to be that some overaggressive filter is finding something it doesn't like. I wonder if maybe one of the bitcoin addresses in the list has been implicated in something illegal. Perhaps there might be some benefit in part censoring the addresses, or purging idle addresses from the default list.

It could be much stupider than that. Middlecoin's main page hosts a particularly large number of BTC addresses. Search the addresses to find "porn," "cp," "age," and "kid." There are probably other "trigger words" in there, too. I'd guess if a script finds too many on one page, it blocks access.

ask "who is DDOSing pools", and you will have your answer to who listed middlecoin on a blacklist.

Obviously, it's an individual, group of people, or a few different groups that are attempting to take the site down for any number of reasons.

One of the common ways this is done is by blacklisting a site - complaints of spam, illegal material, or malware.

the easiest way to get around the blacklist is to use a VPN.  once you can control your proxy, there is no issue with the site.

there is no illegal material on the server at all.  not that i can see from the web side, at any rate.  that's what a crawler would see too.

occam's razor suggests that someone who has a vendetta against the site, not that one address was tangentially linked to some massive CP syndicate and Interpol or something stepped in.
