I choose tron to be the best match for ethereum for their unexpected advancement in making one of the largest crypto community and the fast nature of their transactions compared ethereum's blockchain although it is also fast when one uses the best gwei(fees)

I honestly wish there was a decent one. EOS is way too sketchy for my liking and is DPOS and Cardano has a solid direction but I feel their leadership is very sketchy too. NEO is just seems a bit too heavily manipulated by the Chinese Government.

When you mean competition are you talking about taking its place on the market cap? If that is what you mean I think Xrp is one coin that  has the driving force to displace Eth from its current position. If you are talking about replace the entire ether blockchain believe waves blockchain has what it takes to do so

In fact, we still need to mention such a platform as a stellar, which, despite the poor state of the market, already this year proved to be a promising coin.

Is hard to say. Everybody in this Forum say that EOS could be better but I'll wait for EOS to get their problems under control.

I think so, Cardano is mostly a competitor to the Ethereum. Cardano (ADA) is founded by the co-founder of Ethereum, Charles Hoskinson, and has been developed to compete directly with Bitcoin and Ethereum. Cardano's blockchain is similar to Ethereum's mirroring the fact that decentralised applications and smart contracts can be built on the blockchain. It is considered the "3rd generation” cryptocurrencies and is supposed to solve problems that other ones weren’t able to solve good enough.

Right now, Ethereum is undergoing some serious issues related to transaction processing speeds, and high fees (due to huge activity on the network) but said improvements could alleviate the situation and allow new use cases to flow on it. Nevertheless, only time will tell us whenever EOS or NEO or Cardano, could even overcome Ethereum in terms of user adoption, and popularity. Just my thoughts Grin

As yet, I think NEO has advanced to end up the best contender of ETH. In spite of the fact that they are contending in crypto, as I would like to think, NEO can't go past ETH. Since they are still inside the extent of the stage, and as I would see it, ETH resembles its parent of NEO. So regardless of what the advancement of NEO, NEO will remain beneath ETH.

I think Eos and Tron are Ethereum competitors in the future, these two coins have very good potential and have a lot of cooperation with several companies, especially TRON.

Yes, if it's a competition that affects something. In fact, each coin is original and does not interfere with the specifics of the other. That is, Ethereum does not affect bitcoin in any way, and the other altcoins do not affect Ethereum in any way.

I think wave coin is a considerable competitor in the calculation, because the project and the existing feature in the coin wave is a feature improvement that is in ethereum

I really wish there was a Cardano without the bad leadership. I would rather Ethereum have good competition.

Which are the best competitors to Ethereum, and why do you think so?

(I know on top of my head that Cardano and IOTA try to challenge Ethereum,
although they still haven't proved much from my understanding?)

XRP is a strong coin that is likely to shift the existence of ETH, XRP is reported as a centralized coin, so that people who work for XRP will be easier to do marketing, when they succeed in cooperating with banks and governments around the world.
Because it is centralized, this is also still dangerous. Given the large number of large cases that occur lack of financial flow transparency

In my own opinion and from my recent observation, I think the next best competitor to etherum now is EOS, since it's launch of main net, it been doing great in term of network performance because they have reach 1000+/TPS, but i won't finalize until EOS have a lot of users like etherum.

I think that ETH don't have any competitors at the moment, not during this year at least. There're few blockchains that have good potential like EOS and ICX, but they're still far behind the ethereum. And ethereum also doesn't stand on the same place it's developing and getting stronger.
tjere are a lot of good projects that desrve to be heard and ethereum is good it has started to recover  and we need to know about them
EOS is experiencing many developments that became her progress in generating development that is increasing rapidly. so the EOS a contender best of all coins either Ethereum with an expensive price. so many are using EOS is very capable of supporting its development.

what is actually notable with EOS is that they are aggressive with token creation for their ecosystem. i think eos will really be big soon, although of course there has to be bullrun otherwise its going to be a slow climb up for for its marketcap to get to the top.
