Best competitors to Ethereum?

Lisk and EOS are best competitors to Ethereum, but it is not easy for EOS or Lisk to overtake because Ethereum is still strong platform for decentralized apps developing. If Ethereum has no good improvements in the future and EOS or Lisk has, they can overtake Ethereum.

ETH is a platform coin, most ICOs use its platform. Before, I thought it was a championship. But now I see the EOS can be a formidable opponent with ETH. Having traded on the EOS platform, the EOS community is quite crowded and strong.

EOS might be considered by many as a strong competitor against Ethereum. However, recent studies have shown that EOS is not a blockchain platform, but a centralized database instead. We've seen how Block Producers from EOS have been able to freeze accounts and restrict access to the "blockchain" several times. This shows that EOS' arbitration model is heavily centralized, compared with the likes of central banks and governments worldwide.

As such, due to the fact the EOS is centralized while ETH is decentralized, they cannot be compared with each other. Unless, EOS tries to focus more on decentralization over time, I don't see it going anywhere. Of course, such centralized system would become extremely friendly to governments, and even businesses too. However, in terms of user acceptance and adoption, EOS might not get that far since most people would prefer decentralized cryptos such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Nonetheless, I don't consider EOS as a true competitor against Ethereum. Cardano, on the other hand, could become a strong competitor or rival against Ethereum, because it’s decentralized, and it aims to stay that way for years to come. With a PoS approach, it could stay head-to-head with Ethereum as it becomes highly scalable and secure for everyone. With Ethereum's Casper PoS, things will become interesting in the next couple of years as user interest and demand will increase by then. Therefore, Cardano (ADA) will become the true competitor of Ethereum over time. Just my thoughts

NEO is quite a good smart contract platform, IMO. It's scalable with a high capacity of TPS, and low fees. Considering last year's ATH of $100+, NEO's prices are a bargain today. To the knowledge of many, NEO has announced that it will upgrade towards a new iteration called NEO 3.0 with better performance for smart contracts. This means, that NEO will become a better competitor or rival against Ethereum over time.

It's been under the radar for quite some time, but it could quickly gain traction if the upgrades becomes highly successful. Other competitors such as Cardano and EOS are improving their blockchain networks too. Cardano seems to be taking a decentralized approach in contrast to EOS. However, at the cost of decentralization, you get better scalability and performance like no other. As such, EOS could gain an advantage over other popular smart contract platforms due to its centralized design. Many businesses and companies might adopt EOS as an alternative to Ethereum, because its quite attractive with its zero fees.

Nonetheless, I believe that over time, new competitors shall emerge across the cryptocurrency market which will rival Ethereum's place in market cap. Unfortunately, Ethereum went down from being the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, to being the third. However, it's still on top of other smart contract platforms in terms of market cap, adoption, and popularity. Which means that it'll be quite difficult to take Ethereum down anytime soon. Just my thoughts

There are lots of coins in the system now which pose a threat to ethereum. However, not all coins are worthy and that valuable but there are some coins which are competitors to ethereum now. Coins like bitcoin, ripple and litecoin are competitors to ethereum.

I believe in the long run ONT has a chance.It is growing steadly.It may surpass even neo in the not so far future.I also think that neo is a good competitor too.I don't think eos will have a great chance if you ask me.looks like it is to complicated for regular users.
