Best competitors to Ethereum?

Which are the best competitors to Ethereum, and why do you think so?

(I know on top of my head that Cardano and IOTA try to challenge Ethereum,
although they still haven't proved much from my understanding?)

I think eth's best competitor is xrp and it is proven now that xrp has outperformed eth. now xrp is in number two in coinmarketcap and eth is in number three. xrp I think it is better than eth because xrp has the advantage that it can be used to exchange local currency. Very sophisticated ripple technology can facilitate the exchange of money with various currencies in the world. Ripple has been integrated with banking services in the world. we can transfer money without limits throughout the world.

Agree. NEO is the closest competitor against Ethereum nowadays. It's the most functional and feature-rich smart contract platform that could rival Ethereum in the future (unlike other alternatives like EOS and Cardano which are new and lack stability, and usable features). However, it all comes down to the level of adoption it would experience in the mainstream world by companies and individuals alike. If Ethereum is used more than NEO itself, then it will remain as the leader in the smart contracts space.

I do find some projects technically interesting, especially DFinity, then RChain, but it'll be a while before either one launches. I'll also probably look more at Cardano and Zilliqa. I used to be interested in Aeternity before the suits kicked out the guy who invented it.

Nonetheless, there will be many more Ethereum competitors emerging in the market over time. However, only those platforms that can achieve mainstream adoption and usage will survive in the future. Just my opinion Smiley

There are lots of coins in the markets which are the good competitors to ethereum.

EOS and XRP are best competitors to Ethereum. Maybe in the near future, we can add TRX to the list.

Indeed this is an ethereum altcoin a very potential. even arguably the most potential. However, this is now an awful lot of competitors to ethereum. One of the most severe is EOS.

Ripple I think this is the best competitor for ethereum for now, currently ripple is developing very well and in the future it will definitely be more advanced and more people will invest in this coin ripple

Growth and competition in crypto have continued to increase and gradually grow stricter. From day to day it continues to show an increasing number of coins, and that makes some other coins become competitors or their position can be threatened to go down. Like EOS and Ripple which are currently competing with ETH. EOS clearly grew dramatically with its implementation in the ICO which continued to expand.

In my opinion, the best competitor to Etherum at this time is ripple. It defeats Etherum and ranks second in coinmarketcap.

Since this was posted last january, a lot of the first recommendations have proven to be non competitors.
Specifically, eos, ada, and qtum.

These three were insanely hyped during 2017 with huge promises.

In the case of eos, it is just a huge disastorous mess.
The mainnet release only had a small percentage participating and once the main devs packed up and left, it is going absolutely nowhere.

For ada, it still hasn't even gone to market yet.
At this point, no matter how good it looks on paper, it just won't be able to catch up.
Same thing with qtum, it just hasn't been able to deliver.

The only one that has become a serious competitor is NEO.
But even then, neo is way far behind eth.

I think the biggest challenger of ethereum in all time and even now is Ripple, Ripple has been challenging Ethereum for years and finally it has take over Ethereum's position.

Ethereum is the leader in smart contracts for now, but among the competitors that have just developed, and I see it looks like EOS and NEO is likely in the future to replace the platform that has ethereum. And many also say that. And certainly every platform has the opportunity to surpass Ethereum. , but for now I still believe in the ethereum platform

There are so many competitors of Ethereum.
There are some project which same as ETH like offering token contract
we have WAVES, NEp-5 (neo) and NEM also.
But in the market the most that compete ETH is Ripple!

After participating in a project with ETI, i found it very interesting one, making it a competition for ETH platform, i know that its the beginning of that project, but in the future it could be more useful and could be used by some developers. XLM also become one of the best competitor.

For competitors in terms of blockchain development, I think Neo and Tronx will also be competitors of ethereum later. but now ethereum remains the main one because many successful progresses use the ethereum platform

i can only think 2 alts that can compete with Ethereum head on its EOS and NEO both of them are good NEO has been around couple of years ago 2016 if im not correct but only recently got revive last year june/July 2017 , EOS has a 1 year ico and has a tons of ETH from it that they can dump anytime

I see only one competitor Etherium, this NEO. The biggest and most significant project, which is now undervalued, but I'm sure he'll show us tremendous growth. Now looks very good the EOS, is also a very close competitor.
