Advanced users get into Alts and then there are 1,500 plus ALTS... which makes them greedy and they want to realize their profits as soon as possible... Some of them want to 10x in a month which is practically not possible.... SO, when such users see other coins jump in price, they sell their altcoins and buy a new one... They keep jumping in hope of 10/15% profit on each of their trade with every new coin ... The strategy can be dangerous for someone who cannot devote a lot of time in front of the computer, and for some - this strategy still works depending on how well you are able to time the market...

Each person has a different situation, the demand for cash will be different. Your life is sufficient, not necessary to these funds, so you peace of mind hold them for a long time without fear. But some people are needy, they need money to spend in life so they decided to sell them sooner.

Personally, I hold my altcoins for a couple of month while I see how the project is progressing. If it is progressing well and people are using it and so the value of the altcoins increases, I will continue holding them. If however I see that the project is not progressing and even after 6 months the price is dropping, I will sell.
I think people who sell their altcoins soon are either worried about the altcoin dropping or need the money at that point.

Selling or not is depends on what we predicted to the next time the price is going down or no. But, for me I don't hold my altcoins in long time and I will sell it when the price reach what price I want to sell.
