I think it’s still good idea about investing into ICO project because they are the one who make up most of the crypto world now. But you should be really focused about the ICO project as there is more scam projects than the good one out there. So you should first study most amazing projects and look for them in the marketplace. Don’t trust any project straightened but do extensive research about it and then go for it.

I think you should trade crypto than join ICO project, better like that. ICO not good for invest because too many ICO become scam or have low price after listing into exchanger, my money stuck in several ICO project and make me angry. You should keep trading cryptocurrencies and start investing in a good project. You know already how to start it by finding ICO project on rating websites. Start looking on their whitepaper, team, hype and risk score. If they meet your requirements, you are good to go.

You talk about advertising, and it isn't necessary that good and wide advertising offer the best, some scam icos use the same tactic. Everyone from us and investors generally should pay attention and don't believe in everything you see, just because its big it doesn't mean it will be successful.
Too many icos are there, I chose couple that I like from time to time and I invest between 50-200 dollars, nothing more, I don't wish to risk a lot with something completely new, pre sales are good to get more tokens, and if you see that project is going good in first month or two you fan always invest more.
I will not share names of icos I invented, its my own thing, I don't wish to advertise any of tokens I bought until now, or I plan to buy, choose for yourself and if something goes wrong you be responsible for your mistakes, I don't wish anyone to blame me for giving an advice, what is good for me it's not necessary good for others.

Forget about looking at ICO rating agencies.  You can use them for someone's opinion, but do your own research.  Make sure you understand blockchain and what it's capable of.  Then you can spot projects with poor use cases.

Yes it is good in investing ICO projects but not good as crypto trading since there are many scam rather than a good quality ICO project where you may loose. Choose a project as per your requirements and what kind of return do you expect. If you are not comfortable with the team members, it is always better to even allow the project to hit the exchange, monitor the situation of things and see how the team are giving it their best, then you can hit the exchange to buy if you really want to believe in the project. the more analysis we do, the more likely we are to get a good ICO. we must not be lazy because it concerns our success. we must be willing to work harder by analyzing many ICOs, not just 1 or 2 ICOs. if you have found a good ICO in your opinion, then you must be sure of your choice even though many people doubt it.

Have you considered going though ICObench to see which ones have good hype. Simply do your due diligence and invest in a project you'd regret the least. Crypto investments are still a gamble even with all cards played right. Better make rating on some website as second opinion. In these days, many ICOs not reaching their target and sometimes that ICOs are scam. We should selecting ICOs by their developers team and their roadmap but its not a guarantee its good project.

It is definitely good to look into ICOs because they can yield a really high profit. The biggest thing you have to look at is how safe the ICO is. There is always a chance that the ICO can exit scam and take all of the money it raised and run away. Look for interviews or proofs of a working product to see if it is safe to invest or now. Safe ICOs also have decently large and active communities. Then you should look at the feasibility of the project and see if it can actually be successful.

Right now I am invested in an ICO called EVOAI. It makes arbitrage trading bots that generate passive income to holders of the tokens. I guess you should see if the ICO is offering more than 40% of their coin and also they are not rushing to be listed on an exchange. You should also inspect the main team, their personal backgrounds on the cryptospace because it is better to know their reputation for your benefit.
