It was my understanding that Tranz is not the original dev, that he is a committed community member who stepped up to the plate and delivered when needed.

You are all welcome. Thanks to the community as well.

I just about completed the last change I wanted to do . I will be releasing the final beta 1.4.99 here in the next day or so. After that burns in, we will begin the fork code change and officially release 1.5.

I downloaded the Hobocoin wallet, ran it, and... nothing.  Out of sync and no network connections... period.  I've tried three different versions 4.0.0, 4.0.1, and the latest beta of 1.5... all do the same thing.  I'm running Windows 7.  What's wrong?  How can I fix it?  Is the wallet network dead or down or something?

Just need a addnode or 2.

click on debug window -> console
type addnode IP add

Example
addnode 192.99.13.127 add

Tried doing that... it does nothing... tried a different number, same result.  Can you specify better how to get this wallet to work?  Give me step-by-step instructions, including every command and keypress.  The list you showed has a bazillion numbers, names, etc.  I can't make sense of it.  I must be doing something wrong.

Hmm... interesting... now it's working.  Don't know what I did or didn't do.  But we've got blocks getting downloaded, etc.  Yea, me.

If you only have one or two nodes configured, it sometimes takes a bit to catch for a new sync. Once it does, it gathers more peers and gets faster. Never had the issue with HoboNickels, but I had a lot of nodes in my configuration file. I have with other coins, especially if I only had one node. Can't recall which, right now, but I had one that took over an hour to start downloading blocks. I had given up and left it running by mistake when it finally caught. I'm guessing something along those lines happened to you. Welcome to the brave new world Cheesy

I had a strange experience yesterday, a single block created thirteen orphans in a row trying to stake. Is this normal?

Good to hear. Sometimes getting that first peer can be tricky after that it should be good to go.

Not normal, but as long as you are in sync and have gotten an accepted stake now, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If you have the debug.log file from the time during the orphans I wouldn't mind taking a look at it. Also what version are you on, and were you doing anything on the computer or with the client at the time.

The final beta version of 1.5 is now ready.  https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels/releases/tag/1.4.9.99

I have 1 important message you should follow, if you are using Beta 1 or 2 and have S4C enabled, please disable it before shutting down the client. If you fail to do this you will get a wallet warning when starting the new version. To fix this warning(if you missed this), just press disable in the Stake For Charity dialog box, and then shut down and restart the client. You can then enable it as normal.

Click here https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/13199-preparing-hbn-v15/?p=139751 for change log from Version 1.4 to now. All of this will be included in the final version 1.5, plus the hard forks. Which means you will still be required to upgrade to 1.5.

Looks like some people have managed to pick up some cheap coins, someones been dumping a reasonable amount on the market. Not sure why they dump it like this though, instead of trickling it to the market in chunks to get a good price they straight out dump it into the sell letting some get cheap coins but getting significantly less for themselves in the process.

This is compatible with qt4 and 5 as well as boost below 1.5.  If you are having a specific build issue, let us know.

Sometimes fast money is more important than more money. People fire sale everything from houses to cell phones to crypto. The market will find the correct level.
