Have self discipline and you should know how to control your emotion, though media are playing the big role for the price of the coins you have to consider also the price chart of the coin as it can give you some idea if the coins is over bought or oversold already.

Yes providing some target profit is one of a good advise for every trader in cryptoworld dont be greedy because it can cause trouble to lose your capital, the best time to exit in trading is when you think that your target goal is hitted a 3 to 5% profit is good especially for those people that doing day trading.
