Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Hy there Cheesy

I find this coin very interesting and wanted to know, where i can buy/trade this coin. In addition i found https://bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-GRC
Is this the coin we are talking on this thread which will be continued, or is this the GridcoinClassic which will be dropped?

Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
elrippo.

good news,  doing science instead of wasteful PoW computations will hopefully prevail.

Just imagine the computing power now put into bitcoin going into protein folding or cancer research.

Not to talk about potential commercial applications, where currency is creating by the inflation process by solving actual problems that companies/people pay money for, which would make it the first currency that is backed by something, in this case the useful work that was done to create it.

1) is there a save paper wallet for GRC ?
2) If there will be updates in the client- will the GRC on my paperwallet always be valid?
3) If I had some GRCX in a paperwallet the would still be valid? ... I suppose not.

Thx

Yeay, the first Find @ Home user of the day with a Gridcoin Profile (cheap PR)

http://boinc.ucd.ie/

profile (with Gridcoin logo):

"I started crunch BOINC in November 2014 after I was talking to a friend about the waste of hardware that was catching dust rather than do something useful. A day later I discovered the possibility to get paid for the contributions I do for BOINC:
If you are a member of the Gridcoin BOINC team, you can receive Gridcoin as a reward for your BOINC contribution. These coins are exchangeable for Bitcoin on several coin exchanges. The blockchain is secured by both Proof-of-Stake and Proof-of-Research algorithms rather than wasteful Proof-of-Work hashing like in Bitcoin.

If you are interested in earning Cryptocurrency for running BOINC, please reference these links or visit us on IRC at irc.freenode.net #gridcoin - (Web IRC).

I think there is currently not yet a paper wallet for Gridcoin Research.

The new GRC (research) are a totally different coin, so no a paper wallet of the old coin will no longer be valid, you should change all your old gridcoin to new gridcoins (http://pool.gridcoin.us/CoinExchange.aspx

However I think there will soon be a paper wallet of the Gridcoin Research and there will be no further updates that create a new coin, the new system is very stable now and you can mine coins by doing science Smiley

I like the idea of this coin. But I dont like having all these coins on my computer or an exchange. As soon as there is a paperwallet I´ll store some safe.
Good work the Devs made with this coin!  Smiley
