It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

This is great advice RE your personal savings account where you keep the bulk of your coins.

But for day to day transactions you'd give your self a heart attack.

Just think of it like you do with your wallet vs your bank. Your wallet is convenient and holds a reasonable sum of currency for day to day activities while your bank has a giant safe and guards and whatever else for security measures and you can be fairly sure your funds will be safe there. (Not counting the evil bankers themselves, but that's for another post).
