Another secure possibility to generate strong passwords is KeePassX / 1Password in combination with a YubiKey.

I think you hit some important points.

It's very suspicious to me, that right after all of the fraud allegations started being mentioned, some guy comes in with a template website and some seemingly professional words claiming to be starting some type of "protection service" called the UABB. If this thing isn't a scam, I don't know what is.

I usually just wait till they get good reviews from other users. But then again, somebody has to be the first one to buy...

Man, if I could get out of noob jail, I'd have a solution to enhance the "trust no one"-ness of Bitcoin.

Use an encrypted OS (etc. Ubuntu) where only BitCoin is installed. Most of the time it hasn't to be connected to the internet - only if you want to send some bitcoins to someone else.

But this is a little bit paranoid Smiley

yadda yadda yadda

Amazing post, will be very useful in the future. I'd like to eventually use BTC often, with income and expenses in BTC, but I'd also like to have a "hoard" of decent size as well.

Unfh. In the past I've often been called a little naive about things. I guess I should try and keep myself skeptical here, too, eh? Thanks for the heads up; I'll watch out for the reputation of anyone I deal with. And thanks to you, I'm going to back up my wallet now!

Do not trust woman with your bitcoins!

For you, curious - there is no story behind this.

You can also use a paper wallet—that's even more secure. Check out the Guide to Paper Wallets for that.
