On my linux NRS  0.8.3 client, the default configuration for nxt.apiServerHost is 127.0.0.1 . But i can connect to the NRS  client from another host on lan.
This is a strange behavior because the configuration file specifies that the API server listens only on the localhost.
Another question:
How does Nextcoin convert 256-bit Curve25519 public keys into account numbers?
I'm unable to find into source code.
Thanks.

So could some stakeholders put the biggest chunk of bounty in history of mankind out there for atomic cross chain transaction on nxt please? During this time (this will take a while?!) we should have the best community driven gateway possible, which james is currently building.
OK.
3M NXT (up to 5M for additional features) for atomic cross chain transactions.
Conditions:
a) working client for average user;
b) official approve of all three NXT Funding Committees;
c) fully working asset exchange;
d) working transparent forging in the part marked bold:
NB: The only penalty is inability to mine blocks within some period of time. They still can decide not to bother with mining, but their "hashing" power will be distributed to those who do protect the network.
Last two conditions are my conditions to stop holding investment in 50M NXT.

Who is willing to work on atomic cross chain transaction? 3M bounty up to 5M

I would like to work on that.

how can we help? what do you need?

Most likely this - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=476312.0

There was a snapshot a few days ago, now people have Bitshares.

good call thanks!

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

 smart contracts used by ethereum

http://www.actuss.com/doc/classes.html

Features

ACTUS Contract Calculator
4.1 Principal At Maturity (PAM)

The PAM contract type encompasses many common financial contracts. Most typical representative is the classical government bond. It also covers money market funds, fixed deposits and also all sorts of bullet type loans. Beyond simple fixed rate instruments it accommodates many complex variants such as variable rate instruments and instruments with capitalization.
Principal At Maturity Calculator
4.2 Annuity (ANN)

ANN contract type at its simplest form represents an annuity payment, where principle and interest are paid out over a specified period of time. Common mortgages in several countries follow this pattern. This contract type can represent fixed and variable rate annuities, also including grace period, irregular payments and so on.
Annuity Calculator
4.3 Stock (STK)

A STK contract represents a certain quantity of equity issued by a company.
Stock Calculator
4.4 Future (Futur)

A FUTURE is a standardized contract to buy or sell specified asset at a price agreed upon today with payment occurring at a specified future date. Underlying assets can be Bonds, stocks, commodities or FX rate related instruments. In ACTUS, a FUTUR is represented with a parent-child relationship, with the child being the underlying asset. Closely related to FUTURE is the margining process, which can be modeled in many facets.
Future Calculator
4.5 Swap (SWAP)

A SWAP is a derivative in which counterparties exchange cash flows of one party's financial instrument for those of the other party's financial instrument. In ACTUS, it is represented with a parent-child relationship having two children, which are basic CT’s (such as PAM or ANN). This method of combination of basic CT’s allows ACTUS to represent multiple other variants of swaps, an example being amortizing swaps.
Swap Calculator
4.6 Option (OPTNS)

An OPTION gives the holder the right to buy or sell an underlying asset for a given price (Strike) on or before a specified future date. In ACTUS, it is represented with a parent-child relationship, where the underlying child can be a Bond, stock, commodity or FX rate related instrument. All variants of call/put and American, Bermudan and European options are (or will be) supported in ACTUS.

how can we help? what do you need?

Basically, ideas what the specific goals of CCT are regarding NXT.

Schedule:
0) new thread for this

1) define an API
 - heavily use case dependent
 - you should contribute what you want to achieve with cross-chain trading
 - price negotiations?

2) design questions
 - I fear we need something like a plugin architecture as transactions of different cryptocurrencies can look completely different
 - re-use of current AE infrastructure?
 - re-use of AT infrastructure?

3) implementation and test

5) deploy

And foremost right now: sleep! Till tomorrow.

I am setting up a test net server that I will be maintaining myself. I will need people to run additional test nodes, so that we have a real test network, not just one or a few servers. Perhaps some of our existing public nodes can be switched to test net instead.

I'm in for a couple of nodes.

Change log:

Several changes in the calculation of unconfirmed balances and
unconfirmed asset balances. This is an attempt to fix the
negative unconfirmed balance bug and "Not enough funds" error,
but hasn't been tested, this is why this release is experimental.

Enabled use of testnet just by setting nxt.isTestnet property
in nxt.properties. No other changes are needed.

When switching to testnet by setting nxt.isTestnet=true, peer
port becomes 6874, UI port 6875, and API server port 6876.
Those values are hardcoded to prevent mistakes and take
precedence over any custom port values in nxt.properties.
Also, when NOT using testnet, the server will refuse to start
if peer port is set to 6874, again to prevent accidental
mixing of real and test blockchains.

For testnet, a new subdirectory for the test blockchain will
be automatically created, nxt_test_db.

You need to set nxt.testnetPeers to a list of known public
test nodes. I have set up bug.airdns.org with the 0.8.4e code,
and a copy of the testnet blockchain, as obtained from holms.
I hope other people will also set up test nodes and announce
them on the forum.

In this release, when switching to test net, the Voting and
Asset Exchange features will be automatically enabled. On the
real net, they will still be disabled. The NRS UI client
however doesn't support those features, so you would need to
use a different UI, or use the http API directly.

Added nxt.knownBlacklistedPeers parameter, for manual
blacklisting of peers in the nxt.properties file.

No longer overwrite the peer address with its announced
address in the Active peers panel, use only the IP to uniquely
identify a peer.

Allow disabling of the DoSFilter for the peer networking
server. Added nxt.peerServerDoSFilter.maxRequestMs=300000
parameter, because the default value for the DoSFilter
maxRequestMs forcefully closes peer requests taking longer
than 30 s, which breaks blockchain downloads for slow peers.
This is very likely the cause for the Jetty error warnings
we had back in 0.5.x days.

Added Generator.getAccount method, and START_FORGING and
STOP_FORGING events, of interest to Java API clients.

Added run.bat script for Windows users.

Source code is now included in the release package under
the src directory. The compile.sh and javadoc.sh scripts
can be used to compile the source, and regenerate nxt.jar
and the javadoc documentation.

what i dont get is how all these smart people that work on other "second gen cryptos" dont look into nxt, see that it is far superior to the ones they are working on and move to nxt? why back any other horse when theres one clear winner in the long run? it makes no sense! you dont even need to be a programmer to see that nxt is going to far out do all the other 2nd gen coins! i could understand joe soaps backing the wrong one due to lack of research or other coins having better marketing but real crypto nerds have no excuse! i dont get it :L

you forget about the investor aspect, daytraders, huge moves up and down to make money.

that is what makes a coin sexy for some, they not all in for the innovation or tech, some are in for the money

in order to achieve that NXT most rise in price and whales must stop selling these ridiculous prices

The others look more familiar to what they know.
People don't investigate the new, because it might hurt their current interests.

With 0.8.4e, to switch to testnet you need to set in nxt.properties:

nxt.isTestnet=true
nxt.testnetPeers=bug.airdns.org

This is the test blockchain as obtained from holms. Those who have test Nxt, should be able to access them. Please start forging, as the blockchain is days behind.

You also need to use your own 0.8.4e node for API and UI access - bug.airdns.org only accepts peer to peer requests, don't try to unlock accounts there or use http API against it.

Most of them don't agree with you at all (obviously). And not just newbies. Even the seasoned veterans. The sentiment about NXT is not that great if you go outside of this circle into the vast land of Crypto.

And they know the features, but - nope.

it is simple. BCNext gave us only a source code. We needed to build websites, create wiki, build whitepaper. Then we started to write articles because only with some proof you can show how cool Nxt is. Now we finally finished some cool papers so we can deliver them to the developers and university guys to look at them and join us. After weeks of asking we finally have also a letter for university guys, so I can send it to them without grammar errors. Then devs can come here, build their apps on top of the Nxt network and then we can start to focus on mainstream etc. But right now we need to get attention of the devs, that's why we go to the conferences and publish scientific papers. Like these:

Nxt Network: Energy and Cost Efficiency Analysis
by: hughmanwho et Secondleo
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J8uhdshu9epGRrQHBaloGc4itdvuAHZDAUtNDjOhz-8/edit

Decentralized internet and Nxt solutions
By: salsacz
http://justpaste.it/decentralized-internet

We also had to fight with the myths about Nxt, that's why was created the NxtMyths project so now we can simply link to the paper/chapter or distribution infographic:
NxtMyths: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwAGADgnQcrtM3g1cU1VSHZtTGM/edit?usp=sharing

There were some discussions about visions few pages back. This is a vision, this is a plan. Simple. But working. With 2 simple tweets I got 25 views from AndreasMAntonopoulos's and 25 from Wikileaks followers. But I needed to create this text http://justpaste.it/decentralized-internet for them first. And soon there will be a video

Maybe some 12 years old investor like Emule can invest into a currency without whitepapers/scientific/review texts, but serious investors need to know what Nxt is about. So you need to provide serious articles about Nxt first.
