If you get a transaction number instead of a message saying that the alias is taken, do not process the request again because it will count as a reassignment and you will be charged with fees again. You can be absolutely positive the alias is yours after 720 confirmations.

may be something wrong with newest versions (0.4.1e and 0.4.2) ?

my 0.4.0 VPS with well-known (bootstrap) IP can work ~2 hour before "java.lang.NullPointerException", whereas my anorher VPS 0.4.2 with unknown (for public) IP hardly survive 30 min.

Nothing special AFAIK, maybe BCNext added something, I don't review all the changes...

It seems, that you and BCNext need to find a way to modify Jetty core, or something, to make Hallmark-based (at least) protection.   To buy expensive VPSs, wich would be the first target  - it is not a is not an option ..  it is centralization ...

Jetty has http://wiki.eclipse.org/Jetty/Reference/DoSFilter... But I prefer to leave this work for those who know Jetty much better than me.

0.4.3e filters zombies too. Using the list to filter them on a firewall would be an overkill

Because it is NOT their business to solve these issues!

CfB the solution is not to ask from stakeholders (big or small) not only to pay for something (VPS etc) but to actually learn to be IT and do stuff.

Nor it is a permanent solution to outsource it to someone as laowai for example - these are pathces.

We need more radical solution.

Possible steps:

1)Bounty to laowai to add asap VPSs
2)A post @wiki,forums etc about the steps needed from a user in order to pass the process to laowai
3)Bounty for developing a NON centralized permanent solution to this issue so we don't need steps 1-2.

Some Nxt haters said that Nxt is traded on DGEX only and the price is heavily manipulated. I don't know if they count Nxt Asset Exchange which can be used for such trading. Centralized exchanges is the weakest point of any cryptocoin. Nxt solves this issue by providing a decentralized way but of coz haters will continue to say that "Nxt is not traded on other (centralized) exchanges so it's a scamcoin".

A Chinese exchange faked LTC and BTC trading data.  Maybe they will remove them too.
