I think it is *mandatory* that the state needs to be verified (otherwise how to ensure correct operation of the script?).
Imagine a script that pays money to an account that forged the block the script included into. This is unpredictable with 100% reliability even with TF. Also, why do we need to verify state? A completely deterministic workflow will lead to the same result on any blockchain instance.

Why should I pay anything for messages if I can chat @ fb? Messages should be used for technical staff and should be well-paid. 1.0
You? Of course you should not. It's designed for people thinking about secure messaging.

Well perhaps there are some examples that the person "running" the script doesn't care - but if it was *my* script being run then I would want to be 100% certain of the state after it was run (before it was run) if at all possible. I would also be worried more about potential forks if the state could not be predicted in advance.

For secure messages I can use OTR for free. You are trying to reinvent pay-per-message SMS idea. With whatsapp we get rid of it. Why cloning this awful obsolete thing?

For secure messages I can use OTR for free. Your IP 'll not be hidden. If you are journalist in Sochi who is using public jabber with OTR, you 'll be arrested for spreading true stories anyway You just dont understand what it means - secure IM.

Fee should not be static. It's not good to set a static value without knowing how the market evolves.
As a quick fix i vote for 0.1 because forging needs to yield some income. This quick fix should have a set deadline. Say 1. April. Until then, a new automatic fee adjustment system has to be agreed on.
I think it would be wise to keep block output about constant and have a maximum fee. Adjust each block based on a moving average.

You just don't understand that people love money and will use free alternatives for simple messaging. The entire vision behind Nxt is to have the longest feature list among all alt-coins.
We are not talking about longterm. Right now no reason to lower fees because of messaging, because there is no use for messaging.

Final state can't be predicted. But u can't get different results if u have no truly random events. Transaction processing is completely deterministic, we just have to make sure we don't include RANDOMIZE opcode.

I vote for 0.1 Nxt fee at present. We will see how the market and the related technology & infrastructure react to this fee change, and then we can also revisit lower fee in the future with this fee change experiment.

I guess that the block hash itself could be used as a "random" piece of data if required - am still not convinced of how this is going to work but obviously it is early days yet (looking forward to reading more about the technical details).

Hi guys, Just saw this one the nextcoin forums. Has this been seen yet? Can anyone give him an answer? Seems like a "hidden" cost for most users. https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,3755.0.htmlIs there any way to reduce or outright throttle bandwidth usage of the NXT client?
I've been running NXT client on Windows since mid Dec, upgrading to newest version when new ones are out. The client uses between 150KB/s to 500KB/s. This works out to 390GB to 1.2TB(!) per month. My ISP charges dearly for exceeding 300GB/mo. I first found this out because in Jan I unexpectedly hit 500GB of usage - thanks largely to NXT client. In the first 10 hours of the new month, NXT client (now version 0.5.11) has already racked up 18GB of transfers.
I have high confidence in this next-gen currency, and want to participate in the network. And I don't want to lose NXT due to transparent forging penalties if I don't participate. But I can't pay Comcast another $50-200+ a month to be able to run such a bandwidth hungry app.
Please let me know any way to reduce the NXT client bandwidth consumption, and/or to set explicit throttle limits on it. My apologies if this should be common knowledge, but I've already searched these forums and general internet for throttling or bandwidth related docs or posts and found nothing. Thanks. silence.... were is the great messias now? BTW coudnt you wait to expose this till I was done selling, now everyone will start selling damn and there is more... just wait... ? Let sum up what we have finished here: - Decentralized Alias System / DNS: yes but not Complete- Basic DDoS Protection: Complete? - Decentralized Asset Exchange / Colored Coins: NO- Transparent Mining: NO- Arbitrary Messaging: Complete but absolete- Instant Transactions: NO- Decentralized Marketplace / Auction: NO- Distributed Storage: NO- Multi-signatures: NO- Blockchain Shrinking: NO- Two-phase Payments: NO- Voting System: NO- Reputation System: NO- Decentralized Mixing Service: NO- Distributed Computing: NO- Smart Contracts: NO- Hardware Wallets: NO- Advanced DDoS Protection Project Kharo: NO- white paper: NO- Client: NOWhat do we have: bloated Blockchain that uses GB's of traffic that no one can afford! hot air unclaimed coins 12 laughing rich initial founders. rats leaving the sinking ship already So first, u pump up nxt on jan 1st: "Hi As an professional investor I am looking to throw 7 figures into crypto, did months on research and came to the conclusion that NXT is the best way to go. NXT has all advantage of being the first and does have more features than eMunie, og. that name alone , the major thing about emunie as they sell themselves as decentralized but the creator is running it like a tyrannical dictator , there is a whole construction setup around him but he has the last word in all decisions. Also they can “print” eMunie when they decide to. But hey everyone should look for these things by themselves just telling, yours eMule" and now you want to dump nxt... Congratulations on winning this month's "Douchebag Dumper Of The Month" award! Thanks for the FUD... now beat it jackass and go back and post on Quark's thread! Tai Zen

Time to move to smaller fees. What MIN fee should we set? Remember that lower values make it cheaper to bloat the blockchain.
- 0.1 NXT , not lower
