P.S. I am trying to make sure that even after NXT goes above $1000 we can still buy a lollipop at a precise price.

even if Nxt goes to $1000, 0.00001 would be 1 cent

Too many decimal points bring confusion.
How much does a single crypto cost? One that is .0000000013 BTC? I just want to be able to not have to worry about bundling very small valued things so we dont have the quantization problem.

The GUI can hide the extra precision. I am not talking about display. I am talking about what the low level protocol supports.

I am also not talking about reducing the fee to .00000001 NXT. The fee should be reduced an order of magnitude at a time as we find that it is a problem.

Reworking the code to add precision is the time where we can figure out how to add the most digits without adding too much overhead. We dont have to use or display that precision, but if we can get it essentially for free, why not?

James

Should think about this, at least.

Hello James,

Sorry for my english, I can read but I don't write well. I'm not very active in the common community but in the french one.
I can't help for technical things but I have some ideas about sociology and eco-politics.

I read that and I am very interested :

Quote
I only dreamed about an entire country using crypto as their national currency. It sounds like many smaller countries are ready now!

I propose a bounty for a coin development kit. It needs to make creating a new coin push button easy. I am not sure even how it should be implemented, but it needs to be something that can be used as a replacement currency for an entire country. I guess QR codes on mobile apps to do payments would work for a realworld economy. The more customization options the better.

I will start the bounty with 25000 NXT. If you also like the coin development kit idea, please make a directed donation. just post txid and amount sent to NXTcommunityfund 13776816462073143763

This improvement could be great and I can help for the bountyfund but I want to know more about this project. I think, it's very important to integrate new concept in the cryptocoins on top of NXT. It's very important to seduce politics and institutions.

I think about Universal Dividend like this cryptocurrency project : http://project.openudc.org/
Other things are possible the possibility to have concepts like Devcoin (without mining).

Could you give me your idea for this bounty and his goal ?

Ludom
I havent figured out how exactly to create a coin on top of NXT. It is supposed to be easy, so that is why I started bounty with 25000 NXT. My hope is that someone that knows how to do this (hint, hint) will publish a reference coin on top of NXT. Then we can extend it by adding customization, etc.

I am thinking that a new coin would simply be an Asset inside of NXT AE. So the community gateways should be able to provide a turnkey coin creation service. However I am not clear on how to enforce any sort of proof of work mining....

Oh, of course! I think I just saw how it could be done. Let it percolate for a bit in my head. I will disclose the method to any community gateway providers. Still need 3 more.

I think we can create a mechanism for anybody to issue a new "coin" that will trade within NXT AE. Any type of proof of work, proof of stake, proof of whatever, could be specified. Of course the more complicated it is, the more work it will be to implement, but somebody familiar with bitcoind should be able to create a PoW coin on top of NXT. Not that we want to encourage such things, but the beauty of NXT is that there is nobody that will prevent you from doing a PoW coin on top of it. As long as 1 billion coins is enough, NXT AE seems to be a pretty good platform for customized coins.

James

nxt will be Mobile World Congress 2014??

MWC 2014
MWC 2014 - Mobile World Congress 2014
Mobile World Congress 2014 is starting on 24 February, 2014 and ending on 27 February, 2014.

Venue
Fira Barcelona

Plaça Espanya, 2, 08004 Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona  Spain

Event Type : Congress

Categories : Telecommunications

Mobile is a catalyst of change and innovation. Mobile is creating the next connected device that transforms communication. Advancing the next payment system that alters commerce. Launching the next must-have app that changes how we interact.

Mobile World Congress is the blueprint for the NEXT big innovation. Whatever is coming NEXT will likely be born at Mobile World Congress 2014 – either announced on stage during our Conference programme, showcased in our award-winning Exhibition, or conceived during one of the thousands of meetings taking place during the week.

About the Event

Depending on the type of pass selected, attendees can take advantage of the many components that make up this industry-leading event:

A world-class thought-leadership Conference featuring visionary keynotes and panel discussions
A cutting-edge product and technology Exhibition featuring 1,700 exhibitors
The world’s best venue for seeking industry opportunities, making deals, and Networking
App Planet, the Centre of the Mobile Apps Universe, where the mobile app community gathers to learn, network and engage with innovators
mPowered Industries, a new conference and exhibition programme taking place in Fira Montjuïc for those in the Health, Advertising, Broadcast and Travel industries
And the Global Mobile Awards programme, where we recognise advancements and achievements in the industry
Who Attends MWC

Mobile World Congress 2013 was another record-breaking year – and our best-ever event. Last year’s event featured:
More than 72,000 attendees
More than 41,000 C-Level leaders
More than 4,300 CEOs in attendance
Nearly 1,700 exhibitors utilising 94,000 net square metres of exhibition and business meeting space
3,400+ press members representing 1,500 media outlets from 79 countries
Year over year, the GSMA Mobile World Congress attracts the largest number and highest-quality attendees of any event in the mobile industry. And true to our name, this is truly a global event.

I'm going to show up there. However, I have long lost what's going on with NXT. So many changes and new implementations recently Smiley I can help whoever comes with Spanish /Barcelona stuff, not everyday, but maybe 1-2 days/few hours.

Show me the runtime complexity of the sig function in terms of payload length and we'll see.

Okay - I get your point - I was assuming you'd actually use something like SHA256 over the transaction data and then just apply the EC signature to that (rather than applying the signature algorithm to all of the data).

My (perhaps incorrect) assumption is that EC signature algorithms are much slower than hash algorithms like SHA256.

With CIYAM anyone can create 100% generated C++ web applications in literally minutes.

By the way: last chance to get your money out of Nxtchg today: https://nxtchg.com/index.php

Seems like it has been sold.

I believe optical and brooklynbtc bought it. I think Tongue

Still in negotiation, But I am looking to purchase it with a team including support from
Msin, LTC_Passion, and voldermort628.  Optical Carrier has not spoken to me or anyone with my group.

If we do take it over our immediate plans will be update and refresh it.
We are looking to add a NXT/LTC pair as well, and whatever else the community is interested in (DOGE?)

We will keep all fees frozen at zero at this time, with the exception of the system transfer fees (ie 1NXT to send, and 0.0001 BTC)

Once these updates are done, our goal is to charge a 1% trading fee, and at the same time offer an IPO on the Automated Exchange with shares for sale, so to fund our growth in to decentralized AE NXT/BTC and NXT/LTC gateway.

We are looking into an early adopter referral fee program as well.

Thanks and looking forward to helping NXT grow!

I'd like an active DOGE/NXT market, but where it is NXT price divided by DOGE, so a low number means NXT is low and high number means NXT is high. It is also easy to find the dilution parity point. Just look at how many billion DOGE exists on coinmarketcap and anything below that number means NXT is trading at a discount to DOGE, on a purely dilution basis.

It is kind of a sobering calculation of the market value of pure marketing network effect. Anybody that says marketing doesnt work, or is not worth it just needs to do this calculation. The crazy thing is that the network effect once established could take years to go away.

James

P.S. Would you be interested in becoming one of the community gateways?

About the AE test bug
-I cannot sell my assets when i'm low on nxt (still got plenty to pay for the fees though)

I have 200 nxt and have 1,000,000,000 of X asset and I have someone with a bid order of 1,000,000 X for the price of 1nxt per X.

Now I try to sell it by placing a ask order at 1,000,000 X at 1 nxt per X, the system returns that I don't have enough nxt and fees required is only 1nxt.

I tried with the webclient from nxtra and clieNxt both client return same error?
Why this happen? Anyone? Dev?

Thx for the report, will check it.

Complexity of signing is O(1).

That is plain wrong. The more bits you have to sign the longer signing takes. The question is: how long in terms of the input length.

We would have O(n) if Sign(32_bytes) == Sign(64_bytes) / 2. Actually we have Sign(32_bytes) == Sign(3200_bytes) / 2, so it's more like O(1). Right?

Sorry, still wrong.

It looks more like O(log n) but don't think so, as the whole input has to be read. That still takes O(n).

Bad math alert!

It's true that reading input is always O(n), in fact \omega\theta(n), but the constant ratios for both upper and lower bound are very small compared to signing, or pretty much any other operation.

Complexity analysis only says something about asymptotic behaviour (i.e. as n grows towards infinity), it doesn't say anything about small inputs or exact performance, which is the case here (100 sigs is definitely small, and we care about every scrap of performance). For small inputs, you'll want to run the code and measure it.

pathetic, what a marketing sigh... 4 hand shakers on a conference with 10 attenders.

scary is that people here congratulate them for it.

that rise was short lived Grin

no effort to promote nxt what so ever

Regarding assets and fungibility:

I was thinking about James' "Proof of Pizza" example earlier (lost the post, so I can't link to it) A problem is that not all pizzas are the same. One person may want a Large Hawaiian with Extra Cheese, another may want a Regular with [list of Toppings of Their Choice]. It isn't practical to issue different tokens for different types of pizza. Is there some way to represent different options in a token?

For pizzas, an associated AM would suffice, since you don't expect the trade to take very long to complete (if it does, you should get a second pizza for free!) What about for trades that take longer to complete? AMs will get pruned from the blockchain.

Lophie is here and selling once again ^_^. I have one million nxt for sell at 0.00009BTC, I would rather finish this ASAP as usual.

- Lophie

why don't you sell it on bter like you always do, it would help to kill Nxt faster. why you leaving me selling alone now, what did I do?

Bter made me chase my tail for two weeks after they stole my 100k, also they took tens of thousands of nxt in fees, no thank you, I would rather sell them here and wait for the distributed exchange, I also decided efforts to make yet another centeralised exchange is just nonsense, I would rather focus my efforts helping  nxt whenever I can.

- Lophie

Will take me a while to climb up again, But where is a will, there is a way...
