Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

The 5% PoS really makes it valuable to hold, which I think is what's keeping the price from going down. Logically, if the price goes up, then it's even more valuable to hold, so it acts as a sort of price anchor. If we can raise the profile of the coin, either with new development projects or website payment acceptance, I can only see the price going up further. Personally, I can very easily see grain fetching 40 Satoshi in the short term future. Even 60. We really need to promote the PoS aspect of the coin. Everyone loves to earn interest. Grain has earned its place in my signature. As all coins I think hold great potential do. |

Did not know that - will do some sums now and see ... Thanks ! It will show up in the Stake section of your wallet, then it will transfer into your balance. I catch my wallet doing it once or twice a day. |

Does Grain, which has 2 week coinage generate approximately 2 times more PoS blocks than coin which has 4 weeks coinage? Is it cumulative effect or are there some other variables involved?

After 50 blocks they are returned to the normal state and in 5 days will get old enough to participate in the PoS generation again. You will never see all your coins in a stake unless you merge all of them in a single input by merging them together by sending to yourself the whole amount. There is no reason in doing this IMO, as any coin has fixed maximum number of 'cycles' per year. You can't use your coins while they are in stake, but the coin age for these coins is reset at the moment of PoS block generation, so by merging them manually you reset the coin age to zero again, thus you extend the period of being not eligible for the transferred this way coins. |
