Will this card version be better in term of cooling performance compared to existing brand card ?

Would putting these cards in a server case with some delta fans be enough to manage the heat?

Registered and very interested in 2+.

I read the whole thread, but still not clear about a couple of things:

1) Will the boards be modded for improved performance in any way?

2) No experience at all with FPGA. Been in IT for a long time and into GPU rig building and mining for a while. Is that enough skill to operate these boards?

Thanks for all of this!

If you're capable of loading a web interface, you can operate these boards. I'm planning a HiveOS and SmOS integration. We'll also provide some deb and cent repos for those who know what they're doing.

Excellent, thanks. I think I can handle a web interface. Wink

Any plans for Windows?

Also, any mods for cooling like whitefire mentioned, or is that unnecessary?

NO, NO WINDOWS, EVER!

Windows has creeped its way into the community for mining and anyone in the know finds that insane. I understand the reasoning for the vegas, due to the driver issues... Other than that one instance, NO ONE should be running windows for mining. Period.

For anyone who's not comfortable with linux, we'll be releasing repo addons for smos and hiveos. For those with the skill to maintain their own linux machines, we will have deb repos.

Our FPGA devices will have our encryption keys burned into them and as a result we will be able to distribute secure encrypted bitstreams and software.

Does this mean we cannot run any other software other than what you release on these FPGAs?

No, it doesn't at all. You will be able to run any unencrypted designs (whitefire's for instance) and our encrypted designs.

We will also be creating a platform that would allow any community developer to create and publish designs through our encrypted platform.

You didn't answer his question about the cooling needed that whitefire mentioned in the other thread. Would your device have better cooling at launch? Or cooling modifications will be needed too?

I will post when I have some information available on that subject.

Sorry if a bit off topic but just curious though, aside from the forced updates and occasional instability, why so much hate for Windows? I mean are there clear efficiencies and advantages to using linux that will bring you more profit? Seems like windows is "easy mode" but is it because you'd rather play "hard mode" just so you can brag and say you did it in hard mode?

05/29/18 - We are going to delay pre-sales at this time. We have calls scheduled with both Intel and Xilinx for this week. News to follow.
06/01/18 - Store opened at https://fpga.land/ for user registration. We are still not taking orders at this time but you can register and receive updates when hashrates, pricing and order information becomes available.
06/04/18 - Any developers in the community wishing to develop bitstreams please send me a private message. If you can't make a crypto core in RTL, this doesn't apply to you.

I have registered an account on your store. Hope will received updates soon.

I don't, I'm using it right now for what it's good for. The stability of a linux vs windows can't be compared.

I'm sure someone in here would be more than happy to brag about a multi-year uptime on one of their miners.... Any takers?

I have a Windows 7 box that is ~400 days and counting...  Cool

No, Windows sucks donkey's balls, particularly the recent incarnations of Windows 10 that insist on updating themselves for no good reason and breaking random things (like wireless networking) in the process. Annoying as hell, enormous time waste, and costly to manage. I completely understand why you would focus on Linux.

Update: Credit card for batch 1 isn't going to happen. It's going to take me awhile to get the underwriters to agree to allow me to operate. Paypal should be ok.

I vote for windows.

Then don't buy the card. We're not going to develop windows drivers for the card. We're not just talking about the software, but also pci-e drivers as well.

This doesn't stop anyone else from developing a windows solution.
