I can get at work enough DDR4 ECC (even 32Gb)
Would there be some benefit using ECC memory (dont think so but i'm definitely not verse in FPGA and error correction related to mining) ?

ECC certainly won't do any harm provided it's unbuffered ECC memory. Most server memory is "registered" ECC which is different and won't work with this card.
Oh my bad, i have registered ECC and indeed Xilinx 1525 card spec sheet indicate unregistered memory.
Well not saving a few hundred euros Sad

Sorry to ask again but
Which tax are those ?
Is it Europe taxes or US taxes ?
I have to make sure because as you can imagine i dont want to pay VAT twice.
If it US taxes there should be none on export and UPS should handle taxes on arrival.
If it's Europe taxes is it handled by default by UPS even when paying in crypto ?

If you live in EU we are charging you vat. We will forward the VAT payment, you will not get charged twice.

Good to know. I can place my order safely now. Waiting for eth to reach my binance account

What's the advantage of the DDR4 version over the non DDR4?

It's DDR4 non-ecc vs ecc.. The ecc is error correcting and way more expensive than standard DDR4 you'd put in your PC. For mining purposes you will never need this expensive ECC memory.

The bitstreams need to support the memory you purchase / use. We're using non-ecc DDR4 2400 so as to standardize the DDR4. Since the non-ecc version is cheaper and is just as effective for what it would be used for, there's no reason for the community to pay extra for that.

Just a FYI, I need some sleep Smiley

I opened up a larger chunk of stock and I'm going to go take a nap.

IF ANYONE HAS PAYMENT RELATED ISSUES I WILL DEAL WITH THEM WHEN I'M RESTED -- YOUR FUNDS ARE SECURE!

so the ram we need is non-ecc DDR4 2400 and for the 16GB, it's $250 extra... can i choose my own 3rd party ram as long as the speeds match? or are these 16GB of ram that is purchased with the card special?

i'm curious to know before i order a few of these. thanks!

Yes, you'll just need DDR4 2400. Once we start developing bitstreams that use it, we'll test various memories and compile a memory compatibility sheet so you can look for specific dimms that are known working.

Just a question 14Kh/s on Cryptonight means about $0.72 per day of earning on Nicehash, is that correct ?

I think it's cryptonight v7 so 20$/day
Noone would bother making anything on original cryptonight now that multiple asic are on the market

It's cryptonight v1, monero v7... There's a bit of misinformation floating around to that point...

Please try to correct it when you see it.

But yes, it's about $20/day at present rates / conditions.

90 day warranty is a big turnoff for a 3-4k USD item.

is there not a way to build in protection circuits to the device. i know the fpga will not self throttle (afaik) without specific bitstream support (maybe i have that wrong?) but surely there are ways to monitor critical sections of the cards (VRMs, FPGA, support chips, whatever) to downclock the device. i mean gpus are more or less bulletproof in that regard, why cant your card do the same.

seems the only thing outside of your control is ESD damage. that i can see as most miners probably ignore it.

at least offer an extended warranty for an added price.

180 days i could handle, 90 days, not so much. sounds almost like youre deliberately running beyond spec and cooling abilities and dont expect it to last.

no disrespect intended but self preservation seems like it should be built into high performance parts from day one.

EDIT btw not all miners abuse their rigs. my rigs lead a better life than my daily driver.. constant power (no cycling), better cooling, more checks for maintenance (temps, dust, cable conditions) etc.

We will be building protections into the shell. HOWEVER, that's our code. We can't control other's code or what code you use. If you run some code that has no protections built in and you damage your board; do you think we should warranty that?

Obviously trying to push 300 watts through a device designed to handle 225W is not going to end well. Another example, running the devices at the upper limits of their thermal design.

So as long as we only use your shell, it should be safe, regardless if it's from other developers through your shell, correct?

The only time that the protection wouldn't be there is if we load up our own custom bitstreams without using your shell correct?

awesome! i'll skip the $250 option for the 16gb of ram and just set some cash aside for the 4x4gb ram modules once you figure out what works and what doesn't. heck, i have a few set laying around.

do we need special adapter for extra usb ports? in order to setup multiple fpga? Does anyone have a link on what I would need?

Great Smiley Congrats for this first release !

As for now, I'm hesitating. It's not so gamechainger versus AMD gpus rigs.

14Khs on Monero / Electroneum is great, but 6xRX580 can do 20usd/day on scrypt or Lyra2z too.

So I ll follow your next improvements with attention.
Do you have any idea about your potential improvements in Cryptonight or Lyra2z hashrate ? Is it more about x1,5 / x2, or do you expect something really bigger (x5 / x10 / ...) ? Just to have an idea.

Thanks !

Im in california so I pay at least 26 cents avg electric rate.  So in terms of power efficiency and watt usage its a game changer for me.  But if your the type that has "Free" electricity then you have really nice parents, so keep digging with them vegas.

OMG, i hear this all the time from my newer fellow miners who wants to go and buy the antminer x3. i keep telling them that the x3 won't touch monero. on a side note, at $20/day the ROI is still within reasonable timeframe and the potential of algo changes on the fly makes this even more attractive. alas, only invest money you're willing to lose.

Another thing everyone should keep in mind - having 5000 of these out there now performing 10x a GPU each for a couple hundred watts also means that there will be a ton of developer interest and bitstreams + miners targeting these devices. It’s equivalent to 50k GPUs.

There is something you have to remember. Power consumption.
One full rig can be replaced by ONE card for approximatively the same price but far less power.
In the case of current monero, you would need 8 vega 56 pumping around 1200w to get what one VPU1525 can do for 150w
In term of investment it's even cheaper than buying 8 vega.
There is of course one issue which is resale value but if FPGA democratize in the mining community their price wont drop

Ordered 2, fingers crossed this will be the perfect low power consumption setup.  Look forward to lower electricity bills.  Will early takers like myself have a opportunity to purchase a couple more if everything works out well and operating properly?  Don't want to be stuck to 2 cards if this thing rips.

Do we have a feel for how loud these will run under typical usage? Just a ballpark - is it closer to a GPU at max fan, or more similar to the fans on a typical ASIC (much louder)? I watched the video in whitefire's thread, but without a basis for comparison, I couldn't tell if it was really loud or if that was just the gain on the mic.
