Everyone please join other pools, we don't want another fork to happen.
http://catpool.pw has slots open and could use the users.

I am on catpool.pw

Works well, but I don't get any CAT confirmed yet. Is that normal?
This is normal, moving from unconfirmed to confirmed takes 120 blocks happening before you can send it.
http://catpool.pw/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks
You can look here under the "Validity" column.

I've joined CatPool since Poolerino seems to be having much issues lately and cryptovalley doesn't have enough hash rate. I'll stay there for a while.

It's currently being calculated using the median hashrate estimates for the last 5 blocks. Not sure how MPOS does it Sad

One thing I wasn't too happy about tonight was getting an email from http://www.catcoinforum.com/ to my registered email account urging me to switch to poolerino. I'm not sure what affiliation the forum owner has with that pool, but considering they were on the wrong fork, it probably didn't help matters.

Anyway. Bed time. Ciao.
Today's fail might have happened because Catcoinforum sent that email -- it definitely played its role in causing Poolerino to have >=51% network hash. Why is the forum choosing only one pool anyway? Did they pay him?

I don't know, but I'm not happy with the way the owner seems to "speak" for the community on more than one occasion in this thread. It's fantastic he's got a forum for Catcoin, and much respect to him for maintaining it and running it, but this is more or less an ad-hoc democracy. There's no hierarchy.

He announced in this thread when we were debating the fork a thread on his forum on whether or not the coin should fork. As far as I'm concerned this thread is the official thread, and any decisions about Catcoin's development should be made here. It's bad enough as it is in here sometimes when there's a panic on. We need coordination. Not discord. If he can help coordinate efforts, that would be great, but there can't be several people making rogue decisions that could cause even more confusion. It gets messy and it harms Catcoin.

Anyway, I really must go now. See ya.  Smiley

Lol. Poolerino was on the wrong fork, that is what caused the issue. I never FORCED anyone to sign up at poolerino everyone had a choice to choose which pool they wanted, and many chose coinium.. Nullu what pool did you choose? All i did was suggest the pool since it actually being the number 1 pool and also it was the first pool that help supported catcoin when it was in the dark.

Just look at what happend when poolerino went down everyone changed over to coinium, that was there own descion and thats why the admin had to close registrations cause of a 51%. If Mike was acctually online he could of closed the registrations when it was at 40-45%.

Overserio are you still mad that i used your information or something? well ive changed that now to the official website & i dont ask for donations in every post, there going back into the community anyway running giveaways is costy but aslong as its keeping the community happy im happy.

Mainly, you should all be thanking me for emailing all the catcoin supporters about this fork and telling them to point there hashrate back to catcoin.

Disappointed in Nullu, even thinking this.

COINIUM IS APPROACHING 51%> PLEASE SPREAD OUT TO THE OTHER POOLS OR USE P2POOL TO PREVENT ANOTHER 51%.

Why is this so hard to understand. Use the other pools, or we fork.

Added a chart to compare this: http://catcoins.biz/charts

Very nice! 'Solidpool.org P2Pool' and 'P2Pool.name' should probably either be merged under 'P2Pool' (with links to both nodes) or each node should have its actual local hashrate listed next to it (currently both nodes have the same global P2Pool hashrate next to them).

Actually I think I know one of the main reasons Coinium is still so large at the moment: It's the only major pool currently active with only 60 confirms for round earnings, other than Luckyminers which has 59 (Poolerino seems to be down and I'm not aware of any of the other major pools having 60 confirmations, hell Team Catcoin has 200).

I don't think this problem will truly go away until more pools bring the confirmation time down.

We need to divide the hashrate up! http://catcoins.biz/charts/

http://catpool.pw has slots open and could use the users.

From the chart, conium looks at 75% right now.... That does smell bad, no?

Thanks for all the effort. You might also want to add to the site that p2pool.name has a 0% fee for 36 hours.

Coinium is a huge share of network hashrate, but I don't think it's above 51% yet -- I've added an "Unknown" section to http://catcoins.biz/charts/ that shows the pie slice of total hashrate that's unaccounted for.

I disagree. The confirmation time being reduced from the regular 120 down to 60 was a desperation move, while blocks were being solved once every hour or two, back when we were still at difficulty 172 and miners were leaving mining Catcoins in large numbers, to try to retain some mining. In practice, recognizing confirmation faster than the coin network itself is unsustainable and risky to the pool (i.e., can cause the pool to go bankrupt), because there is always the risk of a fork, and if a pool pays out after only 60, then a fork is discovered, and the users pull out the funds, and the pool loses the coins it thought it had, then it is bankrupt. Even without a fork, a pool can go bankrupt, because the supply of immature coins cannot be spent, and if enough people chose to withdraw their CATs before they became available to the pool, unless the pool has sufficient reserves of CATs it is willing to loan pending the immature coins maturing, it physically cannot allow withdrawals. So lowering confirmations is a fiction - what is really happening is the pool operater is loaning CATs without any security or collateral - except immature coins, which if they become revoked, the pool operator is out the coins. There is a limit to how long this kind of practice can continue and limit to how much Catcoin network hashrate can increase before pools offering 60 confirmations will have to stop offering it - or some of the pools will start having trouble timely honoring requests for withdrawal.

With the very long block times now behind us, all the pools should return to waiting for 120 confirmations, because that matches the behavior of the QT wallet, and is standard.
