I don't see any other suspicious looking transactions within 24 hours of the BTC theft Vern posted in the blog. We know a fair amount was stolen since Otoh had thousands stuck, and there is only 1 other block around that time over 5k worth of outputs (22k, few hours before the BTC theft): https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/block.dws?110056.htmhttps://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/block.dws?110242.htmI think it was the 456k tx... It seems like a lot, but there were not a lot of exchanges for Dash/DRK at the time I don't think Otoh's withdrawal would have been stuck months ago if only ~14k was stolen It's possible that the Dash was stolen more than 24hrs apart from the BTC tx provided by Vern, but that is as far as I searched

The coins will never be returned and NOBODY stole them but BIG VERN - - - UNLESS The evidence is publicly released - Show us the CODE VERN - ..............
The exploit is documented here: https://github.com/alerj78/lucky7coin/issues/1It was also apparently noted in a forum post a few months earlier. There is no evidence who put it there though, nor is it proven this exploit was ever used against Cryptsy. Smooth, how's it going buddy? Miss your trolling on here. How's monero development going? GUI wallet yet? Let me know, that way I can invest The new release is excellent, but let's discuss that in an appropriate thread. Speaking of investing... How will current and potential investors react to the news DASH's proof-of-stake system has 456,500 coins held hostage in enemy hands? Do you expect a pump, as people replace the DASH stolen from them due to Crypty's love of scamcoins? Or should we anticipate lower prices, as the implications of massive dumps and/or 456.5 Masternodes under the control of a sophisticated unknown adversary sink in?

People... This is why crypto currency is looked upon as a joke by the real world, instead of us slinging mud around, we should be figuring out ways to stop this kind of behaviour and events or else we all loose.
You stop this behavior by not trusting people simply because you know their name/location. We've been over this. You have to do what JR's tweet says. But you won't, because you resent the conclusion Evan Duffield must continuously demonstrate why he cannot be the next Karpeles. There is no way to make Dash in its current form trustless. Sorry about that. Live and learn!

Cryptsy hack.... It is possible DASH dumpping.
To follow coin transaction, I think it is need to disable DARKSEND function. Or make possible to trade in coin wallet like bitshare.
What's your opinion?

That said - There will still be sell pressure due to the long term downward pressure Any quick rise will quickly be followed a sell off The stability of the past will now turn into a Day-Trader's dream of quick rewards at the risk of losing everything, only to become a quick DASHenarie over-nite.... it's all twisted and bent but ...anywho...

Where is the proof the 450k stolen Dash have been "sold off already?" Or is that just wishful thinking? And how can you tell, given Dash's renowned privacy enhancing features? Crypty's stolen BTC haven't been moved, much less sold. I think you are spinning and trying to do damage control. Regardless, Crypty's bankruptcy court is probably going to claw back several thousand Dash from Otoh, which will then be liquidated and distributed as fiat to Crypty's creditors/lawyers.

So hacker takes BTC & LTC from craptsy, craptsy sells DRKs to compensate in order to allow BTC & LTC withdrawals. So we have a lot of downward pressure in DRK, for all the time craptsy was selling, and a lot of price suppression due to all the DRK/DASH dumps. This could be very good for DASH

Interesting... Someone on poloniex had 100k dash... Look at this transaction.. . https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/tx.dws?80324.htmChange address identifies poloniex. Later these funds get mixed and end up in a cryptsy wallet.

Second, it definitely looks like Bitcoin Core is, ironically, 'going corporate' (in fact let's just call it Bitcoin Core-porate). Both the refusal to raise the block size and the introduction of RBF point to the obvious: tiny transactions like buying a soda with Bitcoin are going to be off limits, and very soon. The little guy is getting kicked off the Bitcoin network, and only major operators like Coinbase, BitPay, and large banking institutions will be allowed to play on the block chain.
At least, the Bitcoin block chain.
There is no available solution in any crypto that I am aware of, that solves the problem related to blockchain abuse and fees. If you allow near zero fees or zero fees, what's to stop someone from flooding the blockchain and network with bogus transactions? The last line of defense are the miners who will opt to not process cheap transactions (which would also increase their risk of getting orphaned) and "centralized" decisions by devs to increase fees to counteract the spamming. If tomorrow morning DASH gets a spam attack, like Monero had some time ago (presumably from Bytecoin?), we would be ...hard forking overnight to increase fees. The system right now works in a wishful-thinking kind of way that it won't be abused, or if it is abused it is understood that the "centralized" dev team can promptly react to solve the issue by making the attack more expensive. Systems like BTC, DASH etc must be built taking into account worst-case scenarios. Additionally, the end-game scenario is always about paying fees when block reward goes down a lot. BTC is much closer to end-game (it has produced 15mn+ coins compared to DASH's 6) than we are, so fees should play a larger role.

IIRC 22 Feb '14 was around the time when Cryptsy introduced DASH (amidst the ccex hack aftermath chaos) so possibly a market player moving to the new, larger exchange (up to then it was ccex + poloniex). There wasn't any mixing capability back then, DarkSend came later (a few months).

Wow - It's certainly a good attempt at telling the truth. The only thing I can't compute is how you can keep a business running for 18 months after a 'theft' on such a scale... If it was $1m I could probably buy the story that they tried to earn their way out of the problem... But $10m+.... I can't see it. Either way, this is yet another confirmation that we really need to work on a decentralised exchange for crypto. I learned my lesson from Mintpal - I got lucky and withdrew my stash days before - and since then I've never kept a single duff on any exchange more than 24 hours. In fact, the last 2 masternodes I've bought I've gone direct to brokers and paid a small premium. Don't need to worry about it then. If I buy any more dash in the future I'm probably going to source it direct from brokers or community members, even if it costs a little more. Until there is a reliable decentralised exchange. Walter

Wow - It's certainly a good attempt at telling the truth. The only thing I can't compute is how you can keep a business running for 18 months after a 'theft' on such a scale... By selling 400k dash and other alts, perhaps. Maybe that's why dash withdrawals were fragmented and coming in pieces. They had exhausted the dash supply to pay out btcs and ltcs.
