When I switch from DASH chart to XMR on Poloniex I can't tell if it's already loaded because they look the same.
Dash is the one with the higher price .... XMR has risen a bit faster though in the last few weeks, see: https://poloniex.com/exchange#xmr_dashand still Dash has the higher price. Can we please keep the conversation in this thread towards Dash and not promote your own heavily invested coin.. thank you. i'm a bit disappointed dEBRUYNE, you should know better then that .. even if you diversified into both coins (which i suspect you have) Comparing prices is a bit silly imo, since it depends on supply as well. If you meant marketcap I agree. I'll see myself out again.

I think that coinmarketcap.com site - although providing useful trading information - has a lot to answer for in terms of stoking all the various rivalries amongst the cryptocurrency community.
It makes things look more competitive than they really are. The real competition for any asset is against itself, to maintain growth.
Take any company, say in the Wilshire 5000 index of companies. The investible ones could be anywhere in the marketcap rankings. They could be at the top, the bottom or in the middle. There are probably many amazingly innovative and powerful businesses in there that can have small caps equally as large ones.
Marketcap is really more a measure of the size of a market than the quality of the asset. What's happening now IMO is that cryptos are diversifying increasingly into their own markets. They will become less concerned with what each other are doing and more with working their own patch and growing it.

So you're suggesting not to worry if some unmentionable here coin will grow faster than Dash?

To be honest i'm starting to think it will be very difficult for Bitcoin at this point to introduce a new form of decentralised incentivized governance that will rebalance the powers of be that rule there now. Also the word "hard fork" alone seems to send shivers to half of the Bitcoin developers out there. so to sum it all up in one word : difficult which doesnt mean i dont appreciate your efforts in trying to get the discussion going over there ..

masternode profit for one year
1.5 $ * 365 / (1000 * 5$) = 11%
current masternode number : 3550
Because dash is under value fluctuation, 11% is not high for masternode invester.
1) If the masternode number increase 4000, the output would be 9.8% (11% *3550/4000 = 9.8%)
2) If price fall down to 3$ from 5$, the profit would be -33% ( 1- 1.11*3$/5$ )
3) If node number become 4000 and price fall to 3$, the profit would be -34% (1-1.098*3$/5$)
4) If price increase to 6$, 33.2%
If the master node number is about ~1500, we can endure price changing with 26% profit.
Because of price fluctuation, masternode operation isn't good for general invest now.
Now we should maintain the masternode to support the network development.

Just catching up on some of the links posted previously and if anyone hasn't watched Amanda's The Daily Decrypt interview with Eric Sammons as yet then I'd like to highly recommend it, cut to the chase by starting at 21.25 mins in to intro DASH starting at 23.16 approx up to the end of the show, great stuff! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6VwH1yKjdI

The ASICs of course. To welcome them to any network is a mistake imo. I've been kicked off at least five networks by them, so I know what I am talking about.
The masternodes could vote for the algo to be switched to stay ASIC resistant, right? Is that being discussed somewhere?

I am feeling that investors start running Masternodes these days not for the ROI but for possibility to be able to participate in the decentralized management of the Dash project. It is difficult to find another such investment on the planet where ordinary investors (minorities) have fair and transparent access to manage(through voting) the object of their investment.
